SCENARIO:

 You must have the capabilities of your machine

verified by an external partner.

 Your customers or your internal policies require

regular checks of your machines’ capabilities, for

example for internal or external audits.

 You want to reduce your DPM rate while at the

same time improving your first-pass yield.

The SIPLACE offer:

This SIPLACE service comprises a capability

verification of the placement machine and the

correction of any placement offsets. When the work

has been completed, a certificate of the machine’s

accuracy will be handed out.

The SIPLACE Machine Verification enables the

production to increase its yield and other key

performance indicators by ensuring the capabilities

of the machines.

REFURBISHMENT

The service does not include any refurbishment of the SIPLACE placement machine.

REPAIRS

The service does not include any repairs of the SIPLACE placement machine.

TEST METHODOLOGY

The test methodology of the SIPLACE Machine Verification involves a so-called relative

measurement. After components have been placed, their positions are measured relative to a

grid (dots with circular fiducials) on the glass panel. For chips such as Ceram pads, the offset

can be determined with the built-in camera. For glass components (with a QFP or BGA

structure), the positions of the fiducials on the four corners of the component are measured

relative to the grid on the glass panel. Based on the positions of the four corner points, the

software then computes the center point of the component.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PREREQUISITES The technician must have access to the SIPLACE machines to be verified in the customer’s

plant. This also means that the machine will be temporarily unavailable for production

purposes. The technician will give an estimate for how long the machine is expected to be

unavailable.

RECOMMENDATION

To make sure that all SIPLACE placement machines can deliver their performance and

accuracy according to their specifications, they should be verified at least once each year.

EXCEPTIONS

The SIPLACE Machine Verification does not include any replacement parts or repairs. If it is

not possible to return a machine to specifications by correcting the placement offset, the

technician will prepare a report with recommendations regarding what needs to be done. Your

local Service Partner will then discuss the necessary work with you and present a proposal, if

necessary.
