Vacuum Pump Vakuumpumpe 75
Always place the modules on a conductive surface (table with an ESD coating, conductive ESD foam,
ESD bag or container).
Do not bring modules near visual display units, monitors or televisions. Keep them at least 10 cm away
from the screen.

1.3.3.4 Measurements and Modifications to ESD Modules
Measurements and Modifications to ESD Modules
Measurements of the assemblies may only be taken if
▪ The measuring device has been grounded (e.g. via protective conductor) or
▪ The measuring head of the potential-free measuring device has been briefly discharged before
measurement (e.g. touching blank metal control unit housing).
► Always use an earthed soldering iron if you carry out any soldering work.
1.3.3.5
1.3.3.5 Dispatching ESD Modules
Dispatching ESD Modules
► Always store modules and components in conductive packaging (e.g. metallized plastic bags or met-
al sleeves) and dispatch them in conductive packaging.
► If the packaging is not conductive, place the modules in a conductive envelope before packaging.
Use conductive foam rubber, ESD bags, domestic aluminum foil or paper, for example. NEVER use
plastic bags or film.
► If the module has integral batteries, ensure that the conductive packaging does not touch or short-
circuit the battery terminals and, if necessary, first cover the terminals with insulating tape or mate-
rial.

2 Brief description
Brief description
Every Collect&Place head has a separate vacuum generator that supplies the holding and placement
circuit with the vacuum that it needs.
The vacuum generator for the placement heads works according to the Venturi principle. In combination
with a vacuum pump, the compressed air consumption can be significantly reduced for the SpeedStar
(C&P20A) head. The ongoing operating costs are reduced according to the energy costs.
NOTICE
Maximum of two C&P20 A heads
This vacuum pump can supply a maximum of two C&P20 A heads. If using an SX4 with four
C&P20 A heads, you therefore need two vacuum pumps. These vacuum pumps are fitted at
locations 1 and 4, behind the COT inserts in the machine base.
NOTICE
Changeover
If you need to convert a gantry from C&P20A to TwinHead or CPP head, you must re-establish
the original compressed air supply for this gantry. Conversion reversal must be performed on
all assemblies for this gantry.
NOTICE
Partial conversion
Partial conversion of the pneumatic unit, for example, involving disconnection of the gantry hos-
es (additional vacuum hoses) during compressed air operations, can lead to serious placement
machine malfunctions.
NOTICE
Retrofitting
If you need to convert a gantry from TwinHead or CPP head to C&P20A head with vacuum
function, you must retrofit the vacuum equipment for this gantry.
NOTICE
Compressed air operation
If you operate a C&P head which has been converted for vacuum operation at a gantry with
compressed air, this could lead to serious damage to the placement head if the silicon hoses
to the segments should loosen.
NOTICE
Folded hoses
Make sure that the hoses are never folded or pinched, not even during unpacking, as this
makes them unsuitable for further use.
