1 Introduction
1.1 Overview

1.1.4 Use as prescribed
The product may only be used for the areas of application specified in the catalogues and technical
descriptions, i.e. for testing and verifying SIPLACE placement heads, and may only be used to-
gether with the third party devices and components recommended or approved by ASMAssembly
SystemsGmbH&Co.KG. Use for a different or extended purpose is not prescribed.
In the case of incorrect usage, ASMAssembly SystemsGmbH&Co.KG will not assume liability
for any damage which occurs and will not guarantee the correct and proper function of machine
components.
Use as prescribed also includes compliance with all the instructions in the user manual.
For the product to operate correctly and reliably, it must have been transported, stored, erected
and assembled correctly and must be operated and maintained with care.
1.1.5 Failure to use as prescribed
Failure to use the product as prescribed can result in both danger to life and limb and material
damage. For this reason, use other than as prescribed is expressly prohibited. In the case of
incorrect usage, ASMAssemblySystemsGmbH&Co.KG will not assume liability for any damage
which occurs and will not guarantee the correct and proper function of HCS components.
Use of the HCS other than as prescribed includes, for example:
Use of the HCS by unqualified personnel.
Operation of the HCS with safety equipment deactivated or removed.
Testing of heads that do not meet the permitted specification.
Use of tools that have not been approved.
Use of unauthorized accessories and additional tools.

1.1.7 Important notes on environmentally-friendly disposal of materials and
components
SIPLACE machines are preferably manufactured using materials and parts that can be easily sep-
arated and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.

Correct and environmentally-friendly disposal by the operator
The owner of the system has sole responsibility for the proper environmentally-
friendly disposal of machines, working materials, consumables and wear parts.
Please observe your national statutory provisions for waste disposal and environ-
mental protection.
1.1.8 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
ASM Head Care Stations are designed and tested for professional use in industrial applications.
Electromagnetic compatibility in terms of the emission of interference cannot be guaranteed in any
other environment.
1.1.9 Note on original SIPLACE accessories
NOTICE
Use of original spare parts and authorized accessories
The use of other parts will affect safety and will invalidate the liability for any consequential
damage.
Only use original spare parts and authorized accessories from ASMAssemblySys-
tems GmbH&Co.KG.

1.2 Qualification and training of personnel
Personnel used for operation and installation must hold the relevant qualifications for the job. The
user must keep tight control over their responsibilities, assignment and supervision. Any employee
who does not have the relevant training must be trained and given appropriate instruction. The in-
struction is to be given by trained and authorized personnel.
SMTAcademy
The SMTAcademy provides technical training courses for your team, covering everything from ba-
sic SIPLACEoperator training to advanced follow-up training for your experts. Our courses can
either be held at your company or at one of our SIPLACE training centers worldwide. In addition to
our range of standard training programs, we can also offer customized courses to meet your indi-
vidual requirements.
SIPLACEtraining courses are always on a modular basis. This means that you can either book a
standard course or compile your own training program with the individual topics required for your
production environment.

Expert and technical training courses are available for the SIPLACEHCS.

NOTICE
Operation of system only by qualified personnel
Only staff with the relevant qualifications may start up, operate or otherwise work on
the machine.
The qualification must be proven by means of training courses or instruction for the
personnel.
1.3 Operator levels
Certain functions or menus may only be executed or accessed by specially trained personnel. A
differentiation is made between the following operator levels:
Production
Advanced production
Service (customer)
The operator levels "Advanced production" and "Service (customer)" can be password protected.
The operator level "Service (SIPLACE)" is already password protected.
Production
This operator level includes those people who have been trained to operate the machine. These
people are authorized to use any functions associated with operating the machine and may call up
any menus needed to use the machine.
Advanced production
People with this operator level have completed special training and are authorized to perform setup
tasks e.g. creating setup configurations or determining Vision parameters etc.
Service (customer)
People with this operator level are specially trained technicians at the customer end, who can, for
example, define machine option settings.

1.4.1 Contents and filing of this user manual
This user manual contains basic information that must be observed when setting up, operating and
maintaining the machine. The service engineers, qualified staff, operators and users plus system
owner must therefore read it before commencing installation and commissioning. The instructions
must be kept permanently accessible where the machine is used.
In addition, the user must ensure that the employees have fully understood the contents of the user
manual.
1.4.2 Notes on danger, warnings and cautions
WARNING
Read the user manual thoroughly!
Tasks may only be performed by qualified staff who have completed the relevant training.
Only perform tasks on the machine if you have precise knowledge of the relevant section in
the user manual.
Observe all danger notes, warnings and cautions.
Please also carefully read through chapter 2 "Safety" [}13] of this user manual.
1.4.3 Manufacturer's/supplier's liability
We hereby confirm that the contents of this user manual are of a descriptive and explanatory
nature only and do not contain any contractual conditions or guaranties. The liability and obliga-
tions assumed by ASMAssemblySystemsGmbH&Co.KG can be found exclusively in the relev-
ant contract agreement concerning the supply of the machine described in this manual. This ap-
plies in particular to all statements regarding performance or service life and the agreed liability for
faults or defects. The provisions of the contract regarding the liability for faults or defect are neither
extended nor restricted by any statements in this user manual.
