31. Reposition the rotary disk drive assembly stop plate and secure it in
place with the socket head cap screws. Ensure the rotary disk is cen-
tered in the V-groove of the rotary disk drive assembly drive wheel.
32. Check that the locator pins slide into and out of the locator holes.
33. Remove the locator pins from the rotary table locator holes.
34. Ensure the locking brackets do not extend over the rotary disk then
tighten the button head cap screws securing each locking bracket in po-
sition.
35. Replace any covers and/or assembly components that were removed to
allow access to the guide wheel assemblies.

X- Y Axes Belt Tension Specification and
Adjustment Procedure
Purpose:
The correct belt tension for the X and Y axis drive is critical to ensure opti-
mal machine performance and long motor life. If the X and Y belts are under
tensioned, the positioning system will not correctly pull into position thereby
decreasing insertion reliability. If the belts are over tensioned, the bearing
life of the motors will be decreased. The X and Y axes have a built in belt
tensioning feature.
Because new belts stretch after approximately 150 hours of machine
operation, the belt tension must be reset after 150 hours of machine
operation.
Specification
The static tension (T) of the belt and the static force (F) required on the motor
to attain this tension is as follows. A built in spring mechanism applies the
required static force (F) to the motor.
T = 17.5 lbs ± 2.5 lbs (78N ± 11N) (per side)
F = 35 lbs ± 5 lbs (156N ± 22N)

Adjustment Procedure
Procedure:
1. Ensure the belt is correctly seated into both pulleys by rotating the pul-
leys several rotations. This can be accomplished by moving the appro-
priate axis by hand.
2. Loosen the motor mounting screws and allow the spring mechanism in
the mounting plate to apply a force against the side of the motor. The
force is applied in the direction shown, away from the lead screw pul-
ley and along the line between the centers of the pulleys.
3. With the force applied, again ensure the belt is correctly seated into
both pulleys by rotating the pulleys several rotations. This can be ac-
complished by moving the appropriate axis by hand.
4. While the spring mechanism maintains the required force against the
side of the motor, tighten the motor mounting screws .

X-Y Axes Encoder Adjustments
Purpose:
This procedure ensures that the positioning of the X-Y axis encoder settings
correspond with the position of head 1.
If any of the rotary encoders are misaligned, the head 1 position does not cor-
respond to the pattern program values.
Prerequisite Adjustment:

Adjustment Procedure:
1. Push the STOP button.
2. Palm the machine down as detailed in the Operation Manual, then set
the limit switch actuators to the following set up dimensions.
X-axis: 3/4 inch from the end of the X-frame casting to the end of
the limit switch actuator.
Y-axis: 1/4 inch from the end of the sheetmetal actuator mounting
surface to the edge of the limit switch actuator block.
3. Using the head drive shaft tool, manually position the head tooling on
both insertion heads to the tool safe position to prevent possible dam-
age to the insertion tooling during positioning system movements.
