7.43 PCB Barcode Detection with Molex Traceability Pad
Compatible mode: Complete
If the barcode is not contained on the board, it may be put onto the board with help of the Molex
Traceability Pad (Molex item no.: [91658-0020]).
The Traceability is packaged in tape reels and can be placed in the first placement area of the first
machine in the line, if it is defined as a component.
Procedure in SIPLACE Pro
The barcode fiducial and the placement position of the Traceability-Pad must be defined in the
same panel. Furthermore, the name of the barcode fiducial must begin with the character string
FOC_Pos, in which Pos is the name of the placement position.
Example
If the placement position name is Pos_23, the name of the appropriate barcode fiducial must
be FOC_Pos_23 or FOC_Pos_23_xyz. So, the station software will not read the FOC_Pos_23
barcode fiducial until the Pos_23 Traceability Pad has been placed.
The barcode will then be treated as if it was already read when the board entered the line. The
Whispering down the Line function is supported.
The Traceability Pad should be placed / read in the placement area 1 of the first placement
machine. Only in this case it is warranted that the Traceability information can be correctly saved
for all stations in the line.
NOTICE
Component Height
Barcodes can only be reliably measured by SIPLACE Vision if the component height
(without board warpage) at the position of the Traceability-Pad is < 1,5mm.
The function can also be used to put a component highly accurately on another component (chip
stacking): for this, the lower component must be equipped with a fiducial that is defined as local
component fiducial, with the nomenclature FOC_BeName for the fiducial name in SIPLACE Pro. By
this name, the software detects that this fiducial shall not be measured until the component has
been placed. The upper component will then be placed relatively to the fiducial. Please also refer to
section 9.3.
Restrictions
– Barcode-controlled production is not supported.
– Traceability is not possible until the barcode has been successfully read. Therefore, the
Traceability Pad should be placed / read in placement area 1 of the first placement machine in
the line. Only in this case, it is warranted that the Traceability information can be correctly
saved for all stations in the line.
– No plausibility check if the placement position is too close to a component.
– Barcodes can only be reliably measured by SIPLACE Vision if the component height (without
board warpage) at the position of the Traceability-Pad is < 1,5mm.
– When the placement position is taught, the barcode / fiducial position will not be moved
correspondingly.

7.44 Tape Security Flag in X-Feeder
An X-feeder can be operated in many ways in an environment without setup verification. Therefore,
a tape might be exchanged in an X-feeder without notifying SIPLACE Setup Center about it.
A tape security flag is set in the embedded software of the X-feeder to check for changes on a tape
in the feeder. The tape will be accordingly displayed as "secure" or "insecure" on the GUI of the
station software.
The security flag is set to the "secure" value in the following cases:
– A packaging unit is assigned, and the foil is not torn.
– A packaging unit is assigned, and a foil torn has been repaired.
The security flag is set to the "insecure" value in the following cases:
– Foil torn
– Foil removal error
– Foil jam
If a feeder is positioned at the station, the security flag is read by the station software and
transferred to SIPLACE Setup Center. SIPLACE Setup Center evaluates the security flag state. If
the "unsecure" value applies, the appropriate packaging unit is torn down and the station is notified
that the track is empty. The corresponding tape will then be displayed as "insecure" on the GUI of
the station software.
7.45 Improved Behavior at Conveyor Problems
Until now, the entire station and not only the concerned input belt was locked at some conveyor
problems. The displayed setup and other data of the current job were reset and thus, it was not
possible to perform any setup verification.
Examples
– The external MES system locks the station during a product change or a change over. The first
board of the next job has already passed the printer while the first station still assembles the
last board of the preceding job. By locking the station, the external system ensures that the
new board does not enter the station too soon.
– During production, an external system detects a problem, e.g. too low pick-up reliability. The
input belt and the station get locked. After the station has been locked it cannot be operated,
e.g. to solve the problem with the concerned component shape, without performing a reboot.
As of this station software version, the concerned input belt will be locked only and correspondingly
displayed by an icon on the GUI. All other station functions can be performed.

7.46 Requesting Shutdown Reason on the GUI
If the machine reboots unexpectedly, an error event is generated during shutdown. However, with
this event it cannot be detected if the shutdown was scheduled (e.g. for maintenance) or
unscheduled caused by a software or hardware problem.
To find out the shutdown reason, a request can be activated under Settings – GUI settings as of
this station software version.
Figure 7-48: Requesting machine shutdown cause
If the Request reason on shutting down machine option is activated, the following dialog is
displayed after the Shut Down button has been clicked.
