3.8 New Dip Module LDU_X for X-Tables
The new type of dip module, the linear dipping unit (LDU_X) is supported on X-type feeder tables.
The dip process is supported by all placement heads (C&P20A, CPP, Twin) on the X-series
placement machines. By the station software the LDU_X module is handled like any other X-
feeder. On the GUI of the station software the LDU_X module is displayed in the Feeder,
components and nozzles view.
CAUTION
In setup operation (activated through the unlocked key-operated switch), the operator is
able to start a squeegee cycle. However, if the LDU_X is used in the current product,
and the machine was not stopped and the LDU_X is operated parallel in setup mode,
this might damage the placement head!
3.9 Accuracy Check Tool (ACT)
With the Accuracy Check Tool (ACT) the placed components on a PCB can be measured for all
placement heads of the X series. For this a special glass PCB with many high-precision measured
fiducials and ACT component equipment are used. Depending on the selected placement head,
glass or ceramic components will be placed on the measuring board. Subsequently, the placed
components are measured with the PCB camera. The results can be saved in a pdf file.
ACT is called in the Service – Accuracy Check view.
This function requires the "SIPLACE Service" activity level.
A detailed description can be found in the ACT user guide, item no. 00196351-xx, and in the online
help to the station software.
3.10 Fast Head Exchange
To increase the availability of the placement machines, repairs should be carried out as fast as
possible or be completely avoided by performing regular maintenance outside of the machine. The
station software automatically detects if a head exchange has been performed, and if maintenance
is planned for placement heads, the placement machines and the nozzle configuration can be
optimally prepared for an exchange. During fast head exchange the calibration is replaced by a
"short calibration" and the operator is guided through a wizard for updating the nozzle
configuration. The wizard can be found in the Service view and should be called before the actual
exchange takes place. This function requires the "Machine Service" activity level.
CAUTION
Placement head and camera always have to be exchanged together, otherwise a
complete calibration is required!

3.11 "Virtual PCB Stack"
The new feature "Virtual PCB Stack" allows to produce two PCBs with the same width but different
placements in one job.
In SIPLACE Pro two PCBs must be defined on one conveyor lane. During an additional
measurement each PCB is provided with a so-called “PCB Detection Inkspot”.
By means of this inkspot the PCBs differ from each other and by means of this marking the station
loads the accurate placement program.
Restrictions
No plausibility check is performed. I.e., if both inkspots are detected by mistake, both board
contents will be placed. If neither of the two inkspots is detected, no placement will be performed.
3.12 Extension of the Form Editor (SIPLACE Vision)
The Form editor view of SIPLACE Vision has been extended as follows:
– Collinearity check
– Lead length and width inspection for CHIP components
– Face Down Recognition for further component types
– New lead type "rectangle"
– Separate group description may be activated at the station
A detailed description of the SIPLACE Vision functions can be found in the online help of the
station software.
3.13 Auto Configuration
The "Auto Configuration" feature has been implemented in the station software to support multiple
configurations for different types of machines, heads, conveyors etc. The station software detects
the type of hardware constituting the machine and configures itself accordingly. On the GUI the
operator is prompted to confirm the auto configuration and, if necessary, a download of the
appropriate embedded software.
3.14 Reduced Air Consumption with Vacuum Pump
X-series machines with C&P20A placement heads can optionally be operated with a vacuum pump
in order to reduce the air consumption. For this, the machine must be equipped with a retrofit kit.
Detailed information can be found in the "X-Series Retrofit instructions", item no. [00195089-xx].
3.15 Screen Saver
A screen saver has been integrated in the station software to protect the screen against sticking
effects. "Sticking effects" signify an always visible pattern displayed on the screen, caused by
statical images or capacity overload. If no entries are made during a defined space of time, the
screen saver starts, and a vertical line is moving from the left to the right. As soon as an entry is
made (mouse movement or keyboard input) the screen saver stops, and you can go on working
where you stopped before.

3.16 Feeder Setting Comparison
With this feature the feeder settings in SIPLACE Pro are compared with the feeder settings made
in the setup. In case of differing values, a warning is displayed, the feeder is deactivated and via
the GUI the operator is prompted to confirm the changed values or continue with the values from
SIPLACE Pro. This is to avoid that feeder settings (such as pickup position, feeder pitch) are
changed unintentionally. However, no confirmation is required if the feeder settings are changed
directly on the GUI.
The comparison is performed in the following cases:
– Immediately after a job download.
– When feeder settings are modified directly on the feeders after a job download.
– When one or several feeders are exchanged during production.
