Machine description
The Process Lens PL is an inline solder paste inspection machine which visually inspects 100% of
paste deposits on any given product in 3D and 2D and compares them to their expected volume, X
and Y position, area, mean height and shape.
It also checks for bridging between adjacent pads and coplanarity failures for a group of pads belong-
ing to the same component.
This visual control is based on the stencil's Gerber data which contains all the apertures, their shape,
size, orientation and position as well as the stencil thickness.
The Process Lens PL saves all measurement data on its hard drive. Process Lens PL also measures
the warpage of each PCB during the inspection and uses this data to keep the images in sharp focus
by adjusting the height of the Z-axis accordingly. The evolution and history of the printing process can
be visualized through the SPC (Statistical Process Control) package delivered with the machine.

The Process Lens PL solder paste inspection machines are available in four different variants:

Process Lens PL Single-Lane (Item no.: 00701000)
Process Lens PL Single-Lane machines have a one-stage single conveyor (Single-lane). The
Vision Module has an Optical head with FOV 30x30 mm and camera resolution 15 μm/pixel.

Process Lens PL Dual-lane (Item no.: 00702000)
Process Lens PL Dual-lane machines have a three-stage dual conveyor. Synchronous inspection
can be performed with two boards loaded at the same time. The Vision Module has an Optical
head with FOV 30x30 mm and camera resolution 15 μm/pixel.

Process Lens PL HD Single-Lane (Item no.: 00703000)
Process Lens PL HD Single-Lane machines have a Vision Module HD and one-stage single con-
veyor (Single-lane). The Vision Module HD has an Optical head with:
– FOV 50x50mm
– camera resolution of 10μm/pixel and 20μm/pixel.

Process Lens PL HD Dual-Lane (Item no.: 00704000)
Process Lens PL HD Dual-Lane machines have a Vision Module HD and a three-stage dual con-
veyor. Synchronous inspection can be performed with two boards loaded at the same time. The
Vision Module HD has an Optical head with:
– FOV 50x50mm
– camera resolution of 10μm/pixel and 20μm/pixel.
