3 Requirements
● ASM Mobile Device Manager is compatible to the ASM software products of R18-1.
All software belonging to R18-1 is available on the ASM Software Collection USB Medium
R18-1, item no. [00117883-xx]. This USB stick contains all basic product packages of
R18-1. The following ASM products are relevant for ASM Mobile Device Manager:
– ASM Support Media
– ASM OIB
NOTICE
System requirements
ASM Support Media checks the necessary system requirements of your system and
installs these. Amongst others e.g. Microsoft .NET Framework, the ASM License
Manager, the ASM Error Reporter Service and the ASM Operation Manager.
The use of the ASM Support Media 2.7 (R18-1) is mandatory.
The system requirements (supported operating systems and database variants) and an
overview of the interoperable products can be found in the ASM Support Media 2.7 SP3
(R18-1) Software Version Description, item no. [00900052-xx].
● Windows administrative rights are required for all computers on which you are installing
ASM Mobile Device Manager.

4 System Components and Deployment Scenarios
This chapter describes the software components of ASM Mobile Device Manager, the network
structure and possible deployment scenarios.
4.1 Software Components
ASM Mobile Device Manager consists of the following software components to be installed:
● ASM Mobile Device Manager Server
● ASM Mobile Device Manager Module
Other components, such as ASM OIB must be installed by their own installers.
ASM Mobile Device Manager Server
The ASM Mobile Device Manager Server can only be installed once. Together with the ASM Mobile
Device Manager Server the RabbitMQ is installed. RabbitMQ is responsible for the communication
with the devices.
The ASM Mobile Device Manager Server is required for:
– Managing smart devices, such as tablets, smart watches, smart phones
– Enabling communication between ASM software, such as Command Center, SIPLACE
Material Manger or Setup Center and smart devices
– Installing ASM apps on the smart devices
ASM Mobile Device Manager Module
User interface of ASM Mobile Device Manager. The ASM Mobile Device Manager Modul can be
installed on different computers. Detailed information can be found in the ASM Mobile Device
Manager User Guide, item no. [00900150-xx].

5 Installing ASM Mobile Device Manager
This chapter describes important preparations to be performed prior to installation and how to
install the ASM Mobile Device Manager software respectively.
5.1 Preparations prior to Installation
For more detailed information which software is essential and has to be successfully installed
before performing the installation of ASM Mobile Device Manager, please refer to the Support
Media and the respective manual.
► Make sure you use the Prerequisite Analyzer of Support Media.
► Select ASM Mobile Device Manager as planned Product to install all required missing
prerequisites for ASM Mobile Device Manager (e.g. Error Reporter, Net Framework).
5.2 First Steps

Languages
The setup wizard is available in English only. After installation, other GUI languages can
be selected in ASM Mobile Device Manager.
NOTICE
You require administrator rights for the installation procedure!
Starting the Installation
► Login using an administrative user account on the computer.
► Insert the installation media and mount the *.iso file.
► Open Windows Explorer.
► Double-click the DeviceManager.Bundle.exe file to start installing ASM Mobile Device
Manager.
The Welcome dialog of the ASM Mobile Device Manager setup wizard is displayed.
