Classification of Hazards
Introduction SEMI S13 (Environmental, Health and Safety Guideline for Documents Provided to
the Equipment User for Use with Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment) classifies
hazards as cautions, warnings, and dangers.
Cautions A caution indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result
in minor or moderate injury. Caution may also be used to identify unsafe practices.
Warnings A warning indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury.
Dangers A danger indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result
in death or serious injury. Danger is limited to the most extreme situations.
International
Symbols
Each caution, warning, and danger listed within this documentation is accompanied by
the international symbol which best represents the hazard. Leading text will indicate
whether the hazard is a caution, warning, or danger. For example, the following
symbol and leading text would be used to identify a chemical hazard which may result
in minor or moderate injury:
Chemical Hazard
Caution. Consult SDS sheet for hazards listing.
Flammable
WARNING. Use of non-approved solvents can cause fire or other machine damage.
Contact Speedline for a list of approved solvents.
Electrical Hazard
DANGER. High voltage is present. Make sure to remove printer power and apply a
locking device and tags to the Main Disconnect switch prior to performing any
maintenance within this cabinet.

Compressed Air Hazards
Air Pressure
Caution. Compressed air can cause dirt/debris to dislodge under pressure. Airborne
particles and solvents may be hazardous to your health. Do not use compressed air to
clean or to dry printer components. Failure to comply may result in personal injury.
Air Pressure
Caution. The impact of pressurized air can injure skin and eyes. Be sure to remove
air pressure to the printer before servicing air pressure components. Failure to comply
may result in personal injury.
