1. Outline of Maintenance
1. Outline of Maintenance
This session describes how to perform inspections, cleaning, lubrication,
and adjustment to keep the machine in good shape. It is recommended that
periodic maintenance of the machine should be ensured.
1.1 Notes on Maintenance
WARNING
Only qualified personnel should perform the maintenance
work carefully for the machine in compliance with the specified
instructions.
It is highly dangerous for either the power or air supplies to be
turned on by other people during maintenance.
Before performing any maintenance work, be sure to lock the
power breaker and the air source with padlocks.
Power Breaker :
Set the power breaker to the "OFF" side and
lock it with a padlock.
Air Source : Stop the air supply and set the main valve to
the "SHUT" side. After that, be sure to lock it
with a padlock.
Designate a person who can have charge of the padlock keys.
If the provided padlock is lost or damaged, purchase its
substitute.
Note
Preliminary preparation is required for some maintenance tasks with the
power being supplied.
Check each maintenance method.
Although the load power to the motors, etc., is turned OFF when the door
is opened, the maintenance must be performed carefully because you have
to put your hand(s) inside the machine.
CAUTION
Even when the power breaker is set to "OFF", the primary line is
powered, making it possible to cause an electric shock.
Be sure to completely stop the power supply to the machine before
maintenance work.
Residual voltages may remain behind for a few minutes in the
internal devices of the machine after power interception.
Before performing maintenance work, wait until the charge lamps of
the DC power supply and the servoamplifier go "OFF" in 10 minutes or
more after the power breaker is set to "OFF".

1.2 Preparation for Maintenance
1.2.1 Preparation for Cleaning
Greasing Brush
Use a brush whose bristles do not come off if possible.
Rag (a waste piece of cloth)
Use a rag made of such material as cotton, etc., that produces as less waste
thread as possible.
A clean rag is also required, depending on the spots to be cleaned.
Notice
The remaining waste thread if any will cause the machine to break
down.
Oiled Rag
Use a rag made of such material as cotton, etc., that produces as less waste
thread as possible.
Too much grease should not be applied and any different type of grease
should not be mixed into the specified one.
Notice
The remaining waste thread if any will cause the machine to break
down.
Air Gun
Do not use the air gun for any spots other than the specified ones.
If dirt and dust are dispersed, they may adhere to the sensors and moving
mechanisms, causing the machine to break down.

1.2 Preparation for Maintenance
Vacuum Cleaner
If the suction hole of the vacuum cleaner is changed to a smaller one, some
spots can be cleaned more easily.
Air Blow Brush for Camera
Use one on the market.
Mirror
Use one on the market.
Container, etc.
Use a container big enough to hold water drained from the air regulator
while
cleaning the regulator.
Brush
Use a commercially available nylon brush.
Industrial Alcohol
Use the industrial alcohol described in Table 4A1 for this machine.
Table 4A1
Maker Product Name
DAN Chemical Co., Ltd Denatured Ethanol AP-7
Nihon Alcohol Hanbai Co., Ltd SOLMIX AP-7
When the industrial alcohol in Table 4A1 is unavailable, follow the mixture
ratio in Table 4A2.
Table 4A2
Chemical Element CAS No. Mixture Ratio
Ethyl Alcohol
64-17-5 80 to 90 %
Normal Propanol 71-23-8 5 to 10 %
Isopropyl Alcohol
67-63-0 5% or less
Obtain the material safety data sheet (MSDS) from the maker to learn the
precautionary points on handling and check the contents described in detail
for correct use.
