3.2.4 Danger areas
We have defined three danger areas when it comes to using the device:
Device
The device danger area incorporates the entire device including connecting cables and control
elements.
Device environment
The device environment danger area incorporates the area surrounding the device, if it is
affected by the device, including everything from connecting cables through to connecting
socket and transport path, as well as third parties (those passing by or not directly involved).
User
The user danger area incorporates anyone working with the device.
3.2.5 Areas of responsibility
In order for the device to be operated safely, the user roles are responsible for certain danger
areas.
Operator
The operator is responsible for the user danger area. They may only authorise those users
who fulfil all the requirements of the user roles affected to operate the device. For this
purpose, they shall pay particular attention to the following points:
• They ensure that all device users have read chapter 3 Safety thoroughly and understood
it, and thus act in a responsible manner.
• They ensure that no unauthorised personnel carry out work on the device.
• They provide the user with information regarding the possible risks and dangers
associated with using the device.
• They heed the legally prescribed minimum user age.
• They ensure that the personnel to be trained, or those undergoing general training, are
under the constant supervision of an informed and authorised person.
Service engineer
The service engineer is responsible for the device danger area. He ensures that the device
is free from technical defects, safe and functional at all times.
Qualified person
The qualified person is responsible for the device environment danger area. They must
ensure that the device does not harm people and that people can not damage the device.

3.2.6 General safety regulations
Please comply with the following general safety regulations:
• Follow the operating instructions
• In addition to the operating instructions, please also observe the relevant legal conditions
and regulations regarding accident prevention and environmental protection for the
country where the device is being used.
• Do not modify the device in any way without the written consent of the manufacturer.
• It is strictly forbidden to operate the device if protective equipment such as safety limit
switches, light barriers, emergency stopping switches or covers are dismantled or bridged.
• Only original spare parts obtainable from the manufacturer may be used for repairs.
• The service engineer or the qualified person must perform a test run after every
adjustment that is made to the device (maintenance, repair, etc.).
3.3 Other dangers
The device described here poses few other dangers. Please note the information on other
dangers and possible countermeasures in the following chapters.
3.3.1 Residual hazards for personnel
Please note the following residual hazards and possible countermeasures when working with
the device.
The danger of tripping over mains cables that have been laid incorrectly
ATTENTION
Lay the connecting cable in such a way that nobody can trip over it. Stick it firmly to the floor if
it can not be fed directly to the equipment either from above or below.
Key switch for bridging safety equipment
Figure 1: Key Switch
WARNING
Protective equipment such as covers and doors that are secured by safety key switches
interrupt the automatic operating mode if they are opened. This safety equipment can be
removed from service using a key switch in order to perform special operating functions, or to
provide the qualified person or service engineer with a better view for installation purposes.
These people are personally responsible for the safekeeping of the key.

The following must always be complied with:
1. A responsible person must keep the key to this switch somewhere where it is inaccessible
to others.
2. The qualified person or the service engineer may only use the key switch.
3. The key switch may only be used for the abovementioned purposes.
4. The safety key switches must be returned to service for the normal operating mode.
5. The person responsible must remove the key again.
6. The person responsible must lock the key away again.
N.B.
For safety reasons, the control cabinet doors can only be shut if the key has been removed
from the switch. In order to avoid damaging the key, particular attention must be paid to
removing the key carefully.
Set-up mode
WARNING
The fact that some safety equipment is taken out of service makes the system freely
accessible. This entails the risk of injury to people or damage to the system through
tampering. Therefore it is essential to ensure that during movements performed in the special
operating mode Installation, the equipment is not tampered with and that there are no objects
in it (e.g. tools). The qualified person or the service engineer in the installation operating
mode may only operate the equipment.
Maintenance and cleaning
ATTENTION
In order to maintain or clean the device the installation safety, described in 3.5.1, has to be
fixed and the device as well as air pressure of the filter regulation have to be switched off. The
main switch has to be locked with a personal padlock in order to avoid an unintentional switch
on. The subsequent requisite work must be carried out with due care and attention. In the
small interior space of the device, there is a slight risk that the person carrying out the work
could scratch themselves on corners or edges, although the production process does
endeavour to ensure that the parts have no sharp edges or corners.
Disconnecting compressed air supply
WARNING
Do not loosen a compressed air line without making sure that the corresponding air service
unit is pressureless by opening the handslide discharge valve or alternatively by closing the
main valve of the compressed air supply.
Code number
The code number requested in the configuration may only be known to one authorised person
and may not be passed on by this person to unauthorised persons.
3.3.2 Residual hazards for objects
There are no other factors that pose a threat to objects, property or the environment.
