Safety items for cleaning the spindle coolant water path
WARNING
- When you perform the procedure set forth in this section, you have
to place your hands in a drive section. If you perform maintenance
with the power ON, your fingers or hands may be caught or cut off.
Turn OFF the machine and shut off the facility power supply before
starting this procedure.
Also, ensure that no other person touches the machine during
cleaning.
- If any touch panel control is inadvertently activated during
maintenance or inspection, unexpected machine operation may
cause death or serious injury.
While you don't use the touch panel, press the Disco's logo button
located at the upper left of the screen in order to lock up and
deactivate the touch panel.
CAUTION
When you perform maintenance with the partition removed, observe
the following precaution. If you stand the removed partition against
the machine, you may receive injury by the partition if it is toppled by
the earthquake or like that.
After taking off the partition for maintenance purposes, store it
sufficiently away from the working area.
Before cleaning
Have on hand the following item for cleaning the spindle coolant water path.
3mm Allen wrench
Phillips screwdriver
Watercourse for deionized water
Air

Procedures for preparation of cleaning the spindle 1 coolant water path

Press the <System Initial> button to effect system initialization.

With the button, move the Y1-axis to its front end.

Turn OFF the main switch and remove the key.

Turn OFF the circuit breaker at the left side of the machine, and
then lock out the circuit breaker lever with a padlock or the like.

Shut off the facility power supply.

Close the facility main valves of air and spindle coolant water.
7
Remove the roll cover of the spindle1 tail section.
[When there is maintenance space provided at the rear side
of the machine]
Remove the cover [R], and then remove the roll cover of the
spindle 1 tail section from the rear of the machine.
[When there is no maintenance space provided at the rear
side of the machine]
Remove the partition (left), and then remove the roll cover of the
spindle 1 tail section from the left side of the machine.
- For the removal procedures of the Y-axis section roll cover;
See the section F-1-8, [Replacing the Y-axis Section Roll
Cover].
- For the removal procedures of the partition (left);
See the section 1-2-3-2 of this chapter, [Removing the partition
(left)].

Disconnect the tube from the spindle 1 coolant water IN port
(inlet).

Connect the deionized watercourse to the spindle 1 coolant water
IN port (inlet), and then flow the deionized water for a period of
one minute.

Close the deionized watercourse main valve.

Disconnect the deionized watercourse from the IN port.

Make an air supply connection to the spindle 1 coolant IN port
(inlet) and blow air into the coolant path for one minute.

Close the main air supply valve.

Disconnect the air tube.

Repeat the steps 2 through 7 at least three times.
