If the dump box push button at the rear side of the 8mm feeder is pressed, the dump
box cover is projected out as shown in the following figure. Since dropped parts may
remain deep inside the hole, incline the feeder to remove the dropped parts.

Note1) Type of grease: Super lube grease (grease used at high temperature)
Note2) In the case of the 8mm tape feeder, calibrate the pickup position using the
‘Calibration Jig’ when the Y-position has deviated to the extent that it is unable to
perform normal pickup compared with the master feeder or after feeding two million
times.
To purchase grease and fixing materials, please contact our CS company (STS) or local
agent.
Caution
Be sure to keep the feeder clean, and prevent faults by fully
understanding the periodical check items.

3.2. Table for Failure Check
Defective Part Feeding (Feeding Error)
When the feeder failed to feed the part properly, the error message called the feeder index
error is displayed in the MMI. Check the feeder status referring to the following table.
Major
Status
Causes Items for Check or Caution
Incorrect installation of tape in the
sprocket.
Take measures to ensure that the sprocket teeth
come into the tape holes properly.
Tape is
stuck
inside the
feeder
A part is stuck in the tape discharge path. Lift up the feeder and remove the part stuck in the
tape discharge path.
Incorrect installation of cover vinyl on the
tape guide.
Check if the vinyl cover is rolled in the tape guide
without being peeled off.
Incorrect connection of vinyl tape Use standard tape and operate according to the
manual.
Excessive foreign materials in the vinyl slot
of the tape guide.
Check and clean the vinyl slot periodically.
Defective opening and closing of the rear
door of the vinyl box.
Check if the vinyl door opens and closes smoothly.
Lots of adhesive foreign materials on the
vinyl discharge gear.
Clean the vinyl discharge gear periodically.
Defective
vinyl tape
discharge
Adhesive force of the vinyl itself is
particularly strong.
Use the vinyl box with its door open.
Defective operation of solenoid valve. Check if the signal is transmitted to the valve lamp. Defective
cylinder
operation
Leakage of air or air supply cut off. Check if air leaks from the cylinder.
Check if the pneumatic tube is bent.
Index sensor is out of order. Check if the error occurs even though the cylinder
operates.
Defective
index
sensor
Sensor dog or lever is deformed. Check if the lever is in the dog during operation.
Insufficient
feeding
force
Excessively heavy part is stuck in the
hanger.
Check if parts are fed during manual feeding.
Offset of Part Feeding Position
After inserting the tape installed feeder into the feeder base slot and clamping the feeder,
if the part feeding position of the feeder differs significantly from the default set position,
check the feeder state referring to the following table.
Major
Status
Causes Items for Check or Caution
Distorted eccentric pin determining the
position of the sprocket.
Check ‘I marking’ and correct the feeding
position.
Wear occurred to the ratchet, stop pole,
etc.
Check the surface of the part for wear.
Worn or
distorted
part
Foreign materials on the sprocket,
ratchet, etc.
Clean the sprocket, ratchet, etc. periodically.
Deformed tape guide. Lift up the tape guide and check free fall. Defective
position of
the tape
guide
Foreign material on the vinyl contact
surface of the tape guide.
Clean the tape guide periodically.
Defective
