The increased placement force to 100 N is only possible for the Twin VHF placement head, item
no. [03096701-03]. Placements with a force greater than 70 N are not supported on stations with
software versions < 710 and Twin VHF placement heads with a functional status < [-03]. Such
placements will be forced onto stations with station software version >= 710 by SIPLACE Pro.

6.1 Stereo Measurement for THT Pins

6 Tips and Tricks
6.1 Stereo Measurement for THT Pins
Minimum THT pin length
With camera type 33, the minimum length for THT pins is 0.36 mm. If the THT pins are a bit
shorter, you may try one of the following two actions. In both cases you must check that the THT
pin tips are still detected exactly.
► Set the nominal length to 3.6 mm in SIPLACE Pro and increase the tolerance.
or
► Enable the Suppress checking of threshold values option in SIPLACE Vision.
Traverse path
With camera type 33, the default setting for the traverse path = 18 mm.
With this setting, the vertical resolution is high and the left and right images are usually very similar.
However, due to background reflections around the THT pin tips etc., there may be noticeable
"dissimilarities" between the left and right stereo images. In this case, a shorter traverse path can
be selected (e.g. 9 mm). Then the lighting differences between the stereo images are not as large
and the THT pins are detected robustly. However, the height resolution is then lower.
6.2 Customer-specific Pattern Features
●
There must be enough structural information (number of points) present, otherwise no feature
is taught.
► Only teach structures that do not change significantly from component to component
(e.g. critical forlenses).
► If necessary, partition very large features (that e.g. comprises the entire component) better.
► Preferably, do not perform any illumination changes after teaching.
First set the illumination and then teach the features.
► Ensure that the component body is in the correct position when moving the reference point.
Green bodies should match the camera image as much as possible, otherwise the measured
position of the component always has an offset.
► If the reject rate is high after the pattern has been taught:
Possibly increase the Distance between a pair of points parameter.
