2.1.2 Cleaning the rotary unit collectively (ultrasonic cleaning)

Remove the spring holder.
1. While pressing up the spring holder shown
in the figure at right, turn it to the right.
2. Remove the spring holder and the spring.

Remove the rotary.
Pull out the rotary from the head unit.

Put the rotary in a vinyl bag.
Put the rotary in a vinyl bag as shown in the
figure on the right and fill the bag with IPA
(isopropyl alcohol).

Clean the rotary.
Put the rotary packed in a bag in the
ultrasonic cleaner filled with the water and
clean it for 5 min.

NOTE
Up to three rotaries can be put in the ultrasonic cleaner
at once.

Blow the air.
Take out the rotary from the bag and blow
the air to the keyway, etc. so as to extract
IPA from it. After that, dry the rotary.

Lubricate the spring.
Apply the turbine oil (VG32) using the
lubrication syringe (KV8-M8870-00X).
1. Immerse the syringe tip 5 to 10mm in the
turbine oil and draw it up to put an
adequate amount of oil (2.3 μ
/2mg).
Apply one oil drop to the lubrication
location shown in the figure on the right.
2. Move the shaft up and down several
times to evenly spread the turbine oil.
3. In the same manner, apply also the oil to
other shafts.

NOTE
・ If no lubrication syringe is available, use a precision
screwdriver tip to apply the turbine oil.
・ If there are many oily contents, wipe them off with a
lint-free cloth.

Change the orientation of the
keyway in the main shaft.
Use the rotary head attach/detach tool to
turn the keyway so that it directly faces this
machine. (The keyway in the main shaft is
located at twelve o'clock position when
viewed from the lower portion.)

Install the rotary head attach/
detach tool.
Insert the rotary head attach/detach tool
into the rotary while aligning its keyway with
the rotary’s pin. The “F” side of the tool
should be positioned between the first and
last heads.

Insert the rotary onto the main
shaft.
Align the “F” side of the rotary head attach/
detach tool with the keyway in the main
shaft, and then insert the rotary onto the
main shaft.

Pull out the rotary head attach/
detach tool.

Reattach the spring holder.
Reverse step 1 to reattach the spring holder.

Make sure the rotary is properly
installed.
Turn the rotary by hand one turn to the right
and one turn to the left. If the rotary does
not turn smoothly, then pull it out again.
Check the position of the mount block and
reinstall the rotary using the same procedure
from step 9.
