All locations on the components tables must be equipped with feeders if adequate operational safety is to be
assured. If not enough feeders are available you will need to fit ’dummy feeders’ (Item Nos. 00116820-01,
00116821-01 or 00116822-01) as safety guard.
DANGER
QQQ
The machine is electrically powered. When electrical equipment is operating, certain parts will necessarily be
carrying voltages which are potentially fatal.
For this reason before carrying out any work on parts which carry current it is essential that the machine be
switched off at the main switch and disconnected from the main power supply.
Failure to comply with danger or warning notes may result in death, serious physical injury and / or consider-
able damage to property.
WARNING
OO
In addition you must comply with the following points if optimum operational safety is to be assured:
-
Never open either of the covers unless you are absolutely familiar with the operation and functions of the
machine. You should only open covers when you are asked to do so by the service manual.
-
The key-operated switch may only be unlocked by qualified and trained personnel.
The key-operated switch should also only be unlocked when you are asked to do so by the service man-
ual.
-
When a station is switched on, never put your head or arms inside the gantry’s range of travel.
-
Do not ever make modifications of any kind whatsoever unless you are absolutely clear on the effects they
will have on the overall functioning of the machine.
-
Only correspondingly trained personnel should set up, refit and maintain the stations.
-
Do not use any parts except Siemens original spares and accessories authorized by Siemens AG. Use of
other parts will affect safety and may cancel liability for any ensuing consequences.
-
The operational safety of SMD placement machines is only ensured when the SMD machines are used for
the purpose intended and the information in the user and service manuals is observed.
-
Keep the machine key and the key for the key-operated switch in a place where they cannot be accessed
by unauthorized persons.
-
If work is needed on the machine and you do not have personnel adequately trained for this, it is essential
that you have this work done by a service engineer from Siemens. Please remember that working on the
machine without knowing what you are doing will not save money but may actually result in high costs.

-
The machine operator or the servicing personnel should only carry out work for which they have had ade-
quate training and which they are completely familiar with.
-
You should also comply with the speciall safety regulations which apply in your own country.
1.1.2 Conventions on the Use of Danger Symbols
Qualified or adequately trained persons are considered to be persons who are familiar with the installation,
operation and maintenance of the placement machine and its associated equipment and who have a corre-
sponding qualification such as:
-
Training, briefing or authorization in switching on and off, isolating, grounding or labelling current circuits
and installation parts in accordance with technical safety standards.
-
Training or briefing in accordance with technical safety standards in the care and use of the appropriate
safety equipment.
-
Training in First Aid.

1.1.3 Servicing Work on Electronic Components
ATTENTION (ESD sticker for labelling electrostatically sensitive devices)
Electronic modules can be damaged by even slight static electricity. For this reason they are marked with this
symbol.
You should observe the following rules when carrying out servicing work on electronic modules :
●
Switch the machine off and disconnect it from the power supply.
●
Put on an antistatic armband.
●
Do not remove electronic modules from their antistatic envelope until just before you fit them.
●
Do not put the electronic module down on anything except a grounded antistatic mat.
●
Make sure that the components inserted in the IC sockets are seated firmly in the sockets.
●
When fitting the board hold it only by its edges and do not touch either the components or the conductor
tracks on the board.
●
Touch a bare metal surface before fitting the board in the machine.
●
Make sure that all electrical connections have been made correctly.
●
When fitting plugged-in modules make sure that they are seated correctly and firmly in their unit. If this is
not the case, short circuits could occur and the connections burn out.
●
Pack the defective modules in the electrostatic envelopes provided.
