NOTE
Please note the following, before you switch the machine off in the course of fault location and correction
work, or make a change in the compressed air circuit:
First quit the track error menu with "Abort placement" so that all components picked up at the revolving head
in the course of the reference run can be dropped into the rejects container.
After this switch off the machine at the main switch, or subsequently modify the compressed air circuit or the
compressed air unit (for example, in connection with the "components table pneumatic system"). Otherwise
the components will drop uncontrolledly into the machine and will there be the cause of further faults!
If you are however able to correct the fault without taking the steps just mentioned - for example, by correcting
a feeder module fault - then the components will remain picked up. Once you have corrected the fault, select
from within the "Track errors 1/2" menu the function "Continue placement".
CAUTION
OO
After "Abort placement" the placement head will be in the stand-by position above the corresponding compo-
nents supply unit!
Before removing the feeder modules or moving out the components changeover table you must therefore
always first move the placement head by hand to a position within the PCB conveyor.
To do so without damaging anything, hold the placement head (when the machine is switched off) only by the
handle or press against a suitable part of the gantry carriage.
Please note: A minimum separation of the axes must be complied with (crash switch!) or restored before the
machine is switched back on! For this reason when the conveyor width is narrow always position only one
axis by hand above the board conveyor.

Error No. 43: "Component not at nozzle after pick-up" ("Track empty" after the 3rd attempt to pick up)
Possible causes:
–
Fault in the tape feeder module: the pick-up position was not correctly adjusted, the tape is not being
transported: See User’s Manual "Feeder Modules".
–
The power supply to the module is interrupted at the connections panel or the control signal for tape
feeding is not being given: fault in the communications unit.
–
Fault in the tape feeder caused by faults in the empty tape cutting unit (tape jams, etc.): See below,
"Fault on empty tape cutting unit".
–
Tape feeder module 24/32 mm, 8 mm V2 electrical with tape cover, linear vibratory feeder/s: flap
opener is not being operated or does not extend or retract far enough: See below, "Fault in the flap
opener".
–
The vibratory feeder (vibrator) in the activated feeder sector (location 1 or. 3) is not conveying or is
doing so incorrectly: See section 7.2.1.2 "Fault in the Vibrator Activation".

–
Fault in the compressed air feeder module or in the actuation of this module (output from the commu-
nications unit) or in the 5 bar compressed air branch for the components table compressed air supply:
See below, fault in the "components table pneumatic system / components table compressed air sup-
ply".
–
Machine data for tracks 1 or 120 are not correct: Check this with the SITEST program.
–
Faults in the placement head (faults: vacuum, nozzle, etc., see Service Manual, Section 9).
●
Error No. 388: "Checksum error in the table program"
–
The table program must be reinstalled.
●
Error No. 397: "Checksum error during communication with table"
Possible causes:
–
Transmission error: Select from within the machine errors menu "Continue".
●
Error No. 399: " Program loss of the table or trolley control"
Possible causes:
–
Back-up battery of the processor board (communications unit) must be replaced: See section 7.5
"Communications Unit". Note: With a cold restart the components table is automatically loaded; how-
ever this can also be effected by means of the single function "Load table" reached.
●
Error No. 400: RAM of the trolley control system is defective
Possible cause:
–
Hardware fault: replace the communications unit (see section 7.5 "Communications Unit").
●
Error No. 407: "Communication with table interrupted"
Possible causes:
–
Fuse F1 on the input side of the components table-transformer is defective: determine the cause and
replace the fuse (see section 7.3 "Components Table Power Supply").
–
Interface connector or voltage supply plug has been pulled or there is a bad contact or cable break-
age: check plug connection, if necessary, replace cable.
7.2.1.1 Faults in the Empty Tape Cutting Device
●
Tape back-up in the empty tape channel / tapes are not being cut
Possible causes:
–
The motor of the tape cutting unit is not being activated:
–
The +30 VDC fuse of the communications unit (connections panel) is defective.
–
Bad plug connection at the tape cutting unit or at the communications unit.
–
Motor current being switched out by the overload protection (PTC thermistor, communications
unit):
–
Cutter wheel is stiff-running; pretensioning of the cutter wheel is too strong; continuous or cut
toothed belt is overtensioned; guide rail and carriage for the cutting movement have not been
maintained (see User’s Manual section 9).

–
Break in the
motor cable
(motor
→
plug X3ak); motor is defective (for replacement see section
7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel").
–
Interruption on the "Flap opener controller" board (+30 VDC power circuit / signal for tape cutter:
processor board, plug X5
→
board "Flap opener controller" (IC)
→
processor board, plugs X4: for
fault location see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel"; correction by
replacing the "Flap opener controller" board (see section 7.4 "Flap Opener (Magazine Openers)").
–
The carriage has driven onto the righthand stop: righthand limit switch is defective, or there is a
break in the limit switch cable (leading to the motor current being switched out by the PTC ther-
mistor).
–
The cutter wheel carriage does not return to the parking position (after reaching the righthand limit
switch it remains where it is): break in the "Home position" cable or in the lefthand limit switch.
–
The carriage has driven onto the lefthand stop: lefthand limit switch is defective, or there is a
break in the limit switch cable (leading to the motor current being switched out by the PTC ther-
mistor).
–
The cutter wheel is worn out (maintenance - see User’s Manual Section 9). Correction: Replace cutter
blade and cutter wheel; then, pretension the cutter wheel (see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit
and Empty Tape Channel").
–
The pretensioning of the cutter wheel is inadequate which means the tape is not being cut.
–
The pressure rod is not swinging in far enough: the tension springs are fatigued or have detached.
–
The setting of the swivel movement is incorrect: see the ssection 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and
Empty Tape Channel".
●
At cycling on, the tapes will not move; or the tape pressure rod does not swing away
Possible causes:
–
The 5.6 bar compressed air branch (= operating pressure) from the compressed air unit to the tape
cutting unit is leaky or the compressed air hose is pinched.
–
The compressed air cylinder is defective: replace.
–
The solenoid valve at the tape cutting unit is not being actuated; there is a break the cable (plugs X3ak
→
solenoid valve); the solenoid valve is defective; there is a fault in the communications unit.
–
The swivelling movement of the pressure rod is being restricted by a mechanical obstacle or it has
been adjusted incorrectly: (see section 7.6.12.4 "Adjusting the Swivel Movement, Replacing the Ten-
sion Springs").
●
Individual tapes are not being cut or are backing up in the empty tape channel
Possible causes:
–
The fins in the empty tape channel are bent or are no longer touching the outer guide plate an: replace
and adjust the "inner guide plate" or the complete empty tape channel.
–
The tapes of the outer tracks (1 and/or 120) are not being cut:
–
The switching point of the corresponding limit switch has been set incorrectly (the cutting stroke
should be 656 mm; see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel").
–
Only the tapes of the first tracks (from 1 upwards) are not being cut correctly:
–
The pressure rod is swinging in too slowly or bounces: adjust the exhaust air restrictor at the sole-
noid valve (see section 7.6.15 "Concluding Work").
–
The empty tape channel was not aligned symmetrically with the pressure rod when it was refitted.
