Break in the
motor cable
(motor
plug X3ak); motor is defective (for replacement see section
7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel").
Interruption on the "Flap opener controller" board (+30 VDC power circuit / signal for tape cutter:
processor board, plug X5
board "Flap opener controller" (IC)
processor board, plugs X4: for
fault location see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel"; correction by
replacing the "Flap opener controller" board (see section 7.4 "Flap Opener (Magazine Openers)").
The carriage has driven onto the righthand stop: righthand limit switch is defective, or there is a
break in the limit switch cable (leading to the motor current being switched out by the PTC ther-
mistor).
The cutter wheel carriage does not return to the parking position (after reaching the righthand limit
switch it remains where it is): break in the "Home position" cable or in the lefthand limit switch.
The carriage has driven onto the lefthand stop: lefthand limit switch is defective, or there is a
break in the limit switch cable (leading to the motor current being switched out by the PTC ther-
mistor).
The cutter wheel is worn out (maintenance - see User’s Manual Section 9). Correction: Replace cutter
blade and cutter wheel; then, pretension the cutter wheel (see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit
and Empty Tape Channel").
The pretensioning of the cutter wheel is inadequate which means the tape is not being cut.
The pressure rod is not swinging in far enough: the tension springs are fatigued or have detached.
The setting of the swivel movement is incorrect: see the ssection 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and
Empty Tape Channel".
At cycling on, the tapes will not move; or the tape pressure rod does not swing away
Possible causes:
The 5.6 bar compressed air branch (= operating pressure) from the compressed air unit to the tape
cutting unit is leaky or the compressed air hose is pinched.
The compressed air cylinder is defective: replace.
The solenoid valve at the tape cutting unit is not being actuated; there is a break the cable (plugs X3ak
solenoid valve); the solenoid valve is defective; there is a fault in the communications unit.
The swivelling movement of the pressure rod is being restricted by a mechanical obstacle or it has
been adjusted incorrectly: (see section 7.6.12.4 "Adjusting the Swivel Movement, Replacing the Ten-
sion Springs").
Individual tapes are not being cut or are backing up in the empty tape channel
Possible causes:
The fins in the empty tape channel are bent or are no longer touching the outer guide plate an: replace
and adjust the "inner guide plate" or the complete empty tape channel.
The tapes of the outer tracks (1 and/or 120) are not being cut:
The switching point of the corresponding limit switch has been set incorrectly (the cutting stroke
should be 656 mm; see section 7.6 "Empty Tape Cutting Unit and Empty Tape Channel").
Only the tapes of the first tracks (from 1 upwards) are not being cut correctly:
The pressure rod is swinging in too slowly or bounces: adjust the exhaust air restrictor at the sole-
noid valve (see section 7.6.15 "Concluding Work").
The empty tape channel was not aligned symmetrically with the pressure rod when it was refitted.

7.2.1.2 Fault in the Vibrator Activation
An individual vibratory feeder (vibrator) in the activated feeder sector/location (1; 3) is failing to
convey components
Possible causes:
The vibratory feeder will not activate (Check: "Refill track"
select linear feeder): electrical interrup-
tion in the vibratory feeder or in the power supply cable; poor contact in the plug connection at the
connections panel.
Interruption in the 24 VAC supply voltage at the corresponding connection socket (LED on the con-
nections panel illuminates) or the vibrator controller of the communications unit: check the plug con-
nections; if necessary, replace the communications unit.
The period of time for vibrator activation has been input incorrectly (see User’s Manual for the UNIX
line computer, Section 5, under "Coordinates Correction").
The vibration intensity has not been set correctly at the potentiometer rotary button (on the connec-
tions panel of the communications unit): see below, section 7.2.1.2 "Fault in the Vibrator Activation".
The basic calibration of the vibratory feeder needs readjusting.
There is no vibrator (= vibratory feeder) defined in this track: see User’s Manual for the UNIX line com-
puter, under "Feeder Part Editor".
The vibratory feeders of an entire feeder sector or location (1; 3) are not being activated
Possible causes:
No vibratory feeders are defined at this location (see User’s Manual for the UNIX, under "Feeder Part
Editor").
There is no voltage at the components table: the fuse on the input side of the transformer components
table is defective (leads to error message "Communication with table faulty"): see section 7.3 "Compo-
nents Table Power Supply".
Defect in the vibrator control circuit; interruption within the communications unit: replace communica-
tions unit.
7.2.1.3 Fault in the Flap Opener (Magazine Opener)
An individual flap opener will not activate, the plunger does not extend / retract
Possible causes:
No linear vibratory feeder or 24/32 mm tape feeder module (blister tapes) has been defined for this
installation point or track (see User’s Manual for the UNIX computer, "Feeder Part Editor").
The "Components supply - flap openers" ribbon cable is defective; there is a bad plug connection:
replace the cable.
The associated solenoid valve is not switching: electrical interruption on the "Flap opener controller"
board or the solenoid valve on this board is defective: replace controller board.

Flap opener plungers do not extend or retract far enough
Possible causes:
Compressed air for the flap opener has been incorrectly set at the compressed air unit (setting should
be 2.8 bar, see User’s Manual, Section 9).
Pressure loss in the compressed air branch for flap openers: check threaded hose connections,
replace pinched compressed air hose.
The corresponding compressed air cylinder in the flap opener is defective: replace the compressed air
cylinder.
Flap openers of an entire feeder sector (locations 1 or 3) are not being activated
Possible causes:
No linear vibratory feeder or 24/32 mm tape feeder module (blister tapes) has been defined at this
location (table 1; 3) (see User’s Manual for the UNIX computer, "Feeder Part Editor").
After fault correction or reinstallation: The ribbon cable plug has been plugged into the board "Flap
opener control" incorrectly (plug misaligned with socket).
The 30 VDC electrical circuit has been broken by the fuse (see section 7.5 "Communications Unit").
Break in the ribbon cable; interruption in the communications unit or in the components table interface
cable (output signal from the control unit not present).
7.2.1.4 Fault in the Components Table Pneumatic System or
Components Table Compressed Air Supply
An individual compressed air feeder module is not conveying:
Possible causes:
The feeder module has not been positioned correctly; the locking device at the end of the module has
not engaged and closed.
The associated pneumatic adapter in the components table compressed air supply is leaky: replace o-
rings, replace pressure spring
see section 7.7 "Components Table Pneumatics, Components Table
Compressed Air Supply".
The solenoid valves in the compressed air feeder module are not switching:
The compressed air feeder module has not been defined on this track (see User’s Manual for the
UNIX line computer, "Feeder Part Editor").
Solenoid valve(s) in the feeder module is (are) defective; electrical interruption in the module or in
the connecting cable of the module (see the Service Manual for the module).
Interruption within the communications unit: replace (see section 7.5 "Communications Unit").
None of the compressed air supply modules of a location is being activated or conveying correctly
Possible causes
At this location (1; 3) no compressed air supply modules have been defined (see User’s Manual to the
UNIX line computer, under "Feeder Parts").
Compressed air for the components table compressed air supply has not been set precisely to 5 bar:
for setting, see the section 7.7 "Components Table Pneumatics, Components Table Compressed Air
Supply".
Pressure loss in the compressed air branch (5 bar) from the compressed air unit to the components
table compressed air supply.
Break in the components table interface cable (signal not arriving from the control unit). See also:
error message "Communication with table interrupted".
