9.4.2 Functional Sequence "Forced Air" during Placement of a Com-
ponent
The sz axis sinks. Once the sz axis has reached its bottom position, with the end signal the forced air valve is
opened for about 30 - 40 msec and the component set down on the PCB. Following this period of time the sz
axis begins moving back upwards. While it is so moving, screwdriver 1 is activated in order to close the seg-
ment vacuum duct with the sealing piston. With the end signal from screwdriver 1 the forced air valve is closed
again. As as the "sz axis in top end position" bero has responded the revolver head can cycle on.
9.4.3 Functional Sequence "Forced Air" during Ejection of a Compo-
nent
The forced air valve for the ejection circuit opens for about 60 msec in order to eject the component. The valve
then closes. The vacuum test is used to check whether the component has been ejected - in other words, the
vacuum value is measured while the segment is open. Following this test, screwdriver 2 closes the nozzle by
moving the sealing piston forwards into the segment. Once the bero of screwdriver 2 has finally given the end
signal the revolver head can cycle on.

9.5 Description of the Lifting Slide Housing "Com-
plete"
The lifting slide housing has been designed in such a way that without any special mechanical setting
it can be removed from and fitted to the head mounting of the gantry (see Fig. 9.2.4).
it can be replaced as a completely mounted unit with the encoder housing and revolver head (see Fig.
9.2.4).
The lifting slide housing is centered by means of two parallel pins to the head mounting of the gantry and
there fastened with three hexagon socket-head screws (see Fig. 9.2.4). Two parallel pins in the lifting slide
housing center the encoder housing with revolver head, which itself is fastened with three hexagon socket-
head screws to the lifting slide housing (see Fig. 9.2.4).
The lifting slide housing "complete" basically consists of the following subassemblies (see Fig. 9.5.1):
Lifting slide housing
Vacuum generator block with 4 compressed air connections, each 5.6 bar
Silencer block with 4 silencers
Vacuum measuring board 1710460-Y0007
sz axis, consisting of:
16 mm lifting slide with 2 deep-grooved ball bearings for scanning the cam disk
Bero for interrogating whether the sz axis has reached the top end position.
Longitudinal guide of the lifting slide
sz axis drive with drive motor, tachometer and incremental rotary position transducer and cam disk
Segment claw for coupling the segment to the sz axis for die lifting and lowering movement
Screwdriver 1 for opening and closing the segment at the pick-up and placement of components in
revolver head station 1
BERO: interrogation screwdriver 1 and conversion board screwdriver/s 1 Y0307
Screwdriver 2 for opening and closing the nozzle at ejection of a component or checking a nozzle for
contamination in revolver head station 3
BERO: Interrogation screwdriver 2
Removable circular arc guide for the segments (link) and circular arc guide integrated into the lifting slide
housing
