5.7.5 Information about Work Cycle
- If only the protective hose is damaged, the trailing cable in the X-gantry area remains installed.
Only the ribbon cables and the 7-tube pneumatic hose , up to and including the Y-trailing cable hanger, are
dismantled from below, i.e., from the gantry board / from the distributor block.
- If only one ribbon cable is faulty, the entire ribbon cable package is always exchanged. All of the steps
described must be performed during disassembly / installation.
- When the ribbon cables and/or pneumatic hoses are exchanged, the protective hose is always
exchanged too.
- On the S-20 and F4 / F5 the 7-tube pneumatic hose is run in the protective hose together with the rib-
bon cables (the pneumatic hoses are only into the cable supply chain in the case of the S-15 and F3).
- As an alternative, the procedure during disassembly is from the placement head down toward the
machine base or vice versa. In this description, we have selected the disassembly from the bottom up.
During the installation it is advantageous to start from the top so that the remaining length of the rib-
bon cable will be behind the side guard (see following NOTE).

NOTE
To reduce the danger of cutting the pneumatic hoses off too short, start laying the 7-tube pneumatic hose
from the air distributor, not from the head.
CAUTION O
If the Y-trailing cable including the protective hose is laid beginning from below, it has to be cut to size in the
machine. In this case the machine must be thoroughly cleaned/vacuumed to remove the fibers/pieces of
fabric created during the cutting process.
- The length of ribbon cable in the cable set is preassembled cable. The connectors are mounted on both
ends and the cables are ID marked. Likewise, there are ID markings on the PCBs.
- The length of the separated pneumatic hoses (7-tube hose) is adjusted at the upper end (head area).
- In the case of F4/F5 do not forget the different operating pressures for vacuum and ejecting air genera-
tion (5.5 bar) and the Z-axis clamping unit (2.3 bar).
- To simplify assembly, the points at which the loops (180°) and the bend (90°) of the X- and Y-trailing cable
change direction can be copied from marks on the disassembled cable. The fastening points of the trai-
ling cable can be copied from the imprints on the cables (markings with permanent marker).
- The check of the cable supply chain (wide U-bracket = at top) the X- and Y-trailing cable loop and the
parallel assembly of the “Y-strain release device” are necessities (Section 5.7.8).
5.7.6 Disassembling the Trailing Cable on S-20 / F4 / F5
5.7.6.1 Preparatory Steps
DANGER O O O
The first step is to perform all the steps mentioned in the Safety Instructions in Section 5.7.1.
Have a strong person help you to remove the component table next to the WPC on the F4/F5.
● SIPLACE 80 F4 / F5 (see Fig. 5.7.3):
● Disconnect the plug-in connectors (power supply and interface) of the component table (1 or 2) and -
if such is installed - the WPC. Where applicable, move the WPC out of the machine.
● Move the component changeover table / carriage out of the machine and set up the component table
(2) next to the WPC. Remove table 2 with the assistance of a 2nd person
● Proceed with the job, starting with the step after next (“SIPLACE 80 F4/F5 and S-20").
