12.6.15.2Steps in the Check
The following steps are identical with V 403.04 and V404.01:
● Before you turn the machine on: Remove all loose parts and tools from the machine.
● The machine must be turned off.
● Make certain that the key-operated switch is locked (position "0").
● Unplug the
FRSODQDULW\VHQVRUFDEOH
from the assembly (see Fig. 12.6.7).
● Plug the coplanarity test connector
WRWKH
coplanarity option processing unit onto the connector previ-
ously removed (test connector configuration and LED allocation: see Fig. 12.6.6).
● Close all of protective devices.
● Turn the machine ON. The control remains “OFF”:
- None of the 4 LEDs on the connected test connector is to light up.
NOTE
The LEDs on the coplanarity processing unit (in the control unit) are not activated in the identical manner as
the LEDs on the test connector. Therefore the activation and deactivation of LEDs must always be con-
firmed at the test connector. The coplanarity sensor is turned back off 20 minutes after the last activation.
Therefore the checks must be performed within this period of time.
CAUTION O
In this case, the calibration procedure subsequently started via SITEST is merely used to turn on the sensor,
i.e., it is NOT to be STORED.
● Load the SITEST program and select:
"Calibrate" -> "Coplanarity" menu -> "Calibrate module" menu.
● Turn the control “ON” (“Start” button).
● The machine will perform a reference run.
● All 4 LEDs on the test connector must light up.
● Now open and close all 4 protective covers one after the other, checking whether the LEDs on the test
connector are activated:
● After one protective cover is opened -> None of the 4 LEDs is to light up.
● After the individual protective cover or all protective covers is/are closed and the “ON” button is acti-
vated -> all 4 LEDs must light up.
● Press and release all 3 “EMERGENCY OFF” buttons one after the other, checking whether the LEDs on
the test connector are activated:
● After one “EMERGENCY OFF” button is activated -> None of the 4 LEDs is to light up.
● After the “EMERGENCY OFF” button is released and control “ON” is activated -> all 4 LEDs must
light up.

WARNING O O
If, by way of this exception, the connectors must be unpugged while the machine is ON, always unplug the
round connector (power supply) of the component changeover table and / or of the WPC first.
After you unplug the power supply connector you must wait until the 30 V indicator goes out before unplug-
ging the interface connector (square plug).
● Unplug the round connector and then the square one on the right-hand component table.
● After the (square) interface connector is pulled out -> none of the 4 LEDs is to light up.
● After the connectors are plugged in (in reverse order) and control is “ON”.
-> All 4 LEDs must light up.
● Follow the same procedure for the component table on the left-hand side of the machine.
● Turn key operating switch to Position "I" (service position) and repeat the procedure described above.
● Afterwards, lock the key-operated switch ("position "0").
Press the “EMERGENCY OFF” button and turn the machine off.
Proceed to the steps described in Section 12.6.16.

DANGER O O O
Only the Siemens service engineer or the Siemens-trained service engineer is permitted to put the machine
back into service the first time this is done following service work on the coplanarity option.
Bridging of protective equipment is not permitted.
For all subsequent jobs the key-operated switch must be locked (position "0").
CAUTION O
The calibrating sequence subsequently started via SITEST is just utilized here to turn on the sensor, i. e.,it is
not to be stored.
NOTE
The Re-calibration of the coplanarity option is always required after the coplanarity sensor and/or the sensor
retaining bracket is exchanged and re-installed, see Section 12.6.16.

12.6.16.1Preconditions
● Aside from coplanarity, the machine is completely calibrated.
12.6.16.2 V 403.04: Performing Calibration
● Procedure: As described below for Version > 404.01 with the following difference:
12.6.16.3 > V 404.01: Performing Calibration
● Turn the machine on and start the SITEST program.
● Carry out the “total reference run” in the SITEST program.
● Pick up nozzle no. 417 with the IC head.
● Select the function menu “IC HEAD” -> “COPLANARITY”.
The display of the initial positions of the new coplanarity sensor follows (configuration data)
X = 444000 Y = 595000 Z = 17000
● Select the function menu -> “CALIBRATE MODULE”
● When the request appears on the screen, place the coplanarity calibration tool in the middle of the cal-
ibration tool pocket on the stationary side of the conveyor.
● Close the protective hoods and actuate the “Start” button.
● The calibration starts automatically. The calibration values determined are displayed.
Possible error messages during this process:
- X-Y- position not located.
Possible causes:
- Position of coplanarity sensor is wrong because:
- In case of 404.01: Wrong, i.e., old coplanarity module ("LCM150") - and thus the old
X-, Y- (and Z) -position - were entered.
- In the case of machines with dual conveyors (left-hand or right-hand conveyor side = stationary):
spacer washer (total 2 mm thick) between the sensor bracket and the optional carrier or nozzle
changer were not installed or more/less than two washers (1mm each) were installed
(see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 5).
- In case of machines with a single conveyor: Spacer washers were installed at the
above location ( = incorrect).
- Focus outside of tolerances
Possible causes:
- Calibration tool damaged or not picked up.
- Diameter of calibration tool not within tolerances
Possible cause:
- Nozzle projects over calibration tool -> Wrong nozzle picked up (= not 417).
