2 Retrofit Instructions for PCB Camera
Multicolor, HS-50 / HS-60
2.1 Overview
These instructions describe how to retrofit the optional "PCB Camera Multicolor" on SIPLACE
HS-50 and HS-60.
The optional PCB camera Multicolor is used in place of the subgantry camera (PCB camera with
normal light) and the optional oblique illumination. It is utilized to improve the recognition of fidu-
cials (reference marks) and therefore to achieve greater accuracy during placement.
With the PCB camera Multicolor it is possible to acquire at least the entire range of fiducials cur-
rently recognizable with normal or oblique illumination.
2.2 Requirements
The retrofit steps are always to execute on all gantries.
HS-50
Software version 502.01 or later.
The modular head PCB is a requirement to use the PCB camera Multicolor.
If it is not installed, it has to be retrofitted.
On machines manufactured from Sep 98 to Dec 98 a DIN mounting rail (top-hat rail) has to be
installed on the RH side of the terminal panel. This rail is not included in the retrofit kit. .

2.3 Safety Instructions
DANGER
Only Siemens service engineers are permitted to perform the retrofit of the "PCB camera Multico-
lor". Comply with the higher ranking "Safety Instructions" in Chapter "Operational Safety" in the
User Manual and Service Manual.
The machines SIPLACE are powered by line voltage.
Portions of the system are therefore conducting dangerous electricity, inside the machine even
while the master switch is turned off.
Before all work the machine must be turned off at the main switch and isolated from the mains. In
addition, the compressed air supply must be turned off at the main valve of the compressed air
unit in the machine base and the compressed air lines must be bled by actuating the needle valve
at the compressed air unit (particularly due to the risk of injury - posed by residual air - at the pneu-
matic cutter after undocking/removing the component changeover table).
Obey the applicable accident prevention regulations, DIN standards and special safety codes of
your country at all times. DIN EN 60204 must be adhered to during all work inside the machine
base.
DANGER: For anyone wearing a heart pacemaker it is not permitted to work near the linear mo-
tors of an HS-50 machine, as described in detail in the User Manual and the Service Manual,
Chapter "Special Safety Instructions when working in vivinty of powerful magnetic fields" .
Follow the instructions regarding residual voltages in Chapter "Operational Safety".
Comply with regulations on ESDs (see Chapter "Operational Safety").
During the work of retrofitting secure the machine conscientiously against other personnel and
prevent it from being turned back on without authorization, as described in the User Manual in the
chapter "Locking the Machine...".
There is additional, higher risk of accident when working with the SITEST program.
The SITEST program is only to be started by personnel who are authorized to do so.
For the work with the SITEST program the component changeover table must be moved in and
correctly connected. 2
