6.2 Gantry Functions 80S
NOTE
During traverse functions of the x or y axes the protective cover must be closed and the start button pressed to
initiate the functions. As a fundamental rule the gantries travel only at low speed.
6.2.1 Menu "Gantry functions"
The menus "Gantry functions" for Gantry 1 and Gantry 2 are used for checking the functions which belong to
the gantry.
NOTE
Since the functions and menus are identical for both gantries, all functions are explained using just the
example of gantry 1.
To select the menu "Gantry functions" proceed as follows:
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Single functions" to select the menu item "Gantry 1".
Press the
Return key
. The "Gantry functions" menu is displayed on the screen.
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Gantry 1" to select the menu item "Gantry functions".
Press the
Return key
. The "Gantry 1" menu is displayed on the screen.

Esc key
twice to quit the menu. The gantry performs a reference run and the program jumps
back to the menu "Single functions".
NOTE
All travel functions of the main axes (x, y) must be launched using the start key. On the screen you will be
requested to press the start key by the message "Press start key” following the menu item "Action:” If the
protective cover is not closed you will be asked to close it by a message on the screen.
6.2.1.1 Go to Service Position
In the service position the gantry is in a position in which it is possible to carry out work on the placement head
and also other parts of the gantry.
To go to the service position proceed as follows:
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Gantry functions" to position the cursor bar over the menu item "Go
to service pos'n".
Press the
Return key
.
Press, for as long as you are asked to do so, the
Start button
. The gantry travels to the service position.
6.2.1.2 Go to Waiting Position
The waiting position is the position in the machine which gantry travels to when the gantry is not required for
the placement sequence.
To go to the waiting position proceed as follows:
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Gantry functions" to position the cursor bar over the menu item "Go
to waiting pos'n".
Press the
Return key
.
Press, for as long as you are asked to do so, the
Start button
. The gantry travels to the waiting position.
6.2.1.3 Go to Zero Pulse
Zero pulse is the position of the gantry used as a basis for the counter sequences of the incremental
encoders.
To go to the zero pulse proceed as follows:
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Gantry functions" to position the cursor bar over the menu item "Go
to zero pulse".
Press the
Return key
.
Press, for as long as you are asked to do so, the
Start button
. The gantry travels to the zero pulse of the x
and y axes.

6.2.1.4 Gantry Reference Run
With the function gantry reference run the active gantry performs a reference run with the x and y axes.
To carry out the gantry reference run proceed as follows:
Use the
cursor keys
within the menu "Gantry functions" to position the cursor bar over the menu item "Gan-
try reference run".
Press the
Return key
.
Press, for as long as you are asked to do so, the
Start button
. The gantry performs a reference run.
