Note:
The description here applies to maintenance of the star when segments with sealing pistons
version 2 are used. The vacuum connection tubes of the star have to be cleaned with a pipe-cleaner (see
Short Reference Maintenance Segments Version 2) as far as it will go.

9.5.6 Mechanical Centering Station
NOTE
The "housing complete with star" is removed for this maintenance work and placed on the "mounting rack for
housing", as described in the section 9.5.3.1 Removal of the Housing Complete with Star. The mechanical
centering station remains installed for the duration of maintenance work. The location of the centering station
is shown in Fig. 9.5.4.

9.5.6.1 Cleaning and Greasing the Gear Rack and Pinion

Clean the toothing of the pinion and of the gear rack with a brush dipped in alcohol and dry the parts with
compressed air.
●
Grease the toothing sparingly with Unimoly GL82.
9.5.6.2 Oiling the Longitudinal Guide Column,
Cleaning and Oiling the Gear Rack and Motor Pinion
●
With the syringe apply a minimal quantity of finest grade watchmaker's oil No. 3 into the ball bearing.
●
Clean the toothing of the motor pinion and of the gear rack with a brush and alcohol.
●
Dry the toothing and grease it sparingly with Unimoly GL82.
●
Finally move retainer bracket repeatedly and carefully by hand towards the jaws thus distributing the
grease and oil over the tooth engagement and longitudinal guide column.

9.5.7 Screwdrivers 1 and 2
NOTE
The "housing complete with star" is removed for this maintenance work and placed on the "mounting rack for
housing", as described in the section 9.5.3.1 Removal of the Housing Complete with Star.
The location of screwdrivers 1 and 2 in the support plate is shown in Fig. 9.5.8.
The 30 degree position for screwdriver 2 is already marked.

To obtain better access to screwdrivers 1 you may need to move the z axis by hand downwards by turning
the cam disk anticlockwise.
●
If necessary, clean the tooth engagement with a brush dipped in alcohol and dry off with compressed air.
●
Grease screwdrivers 1 and 2 in each case at the tooth engagement sparingly with Unimoly GL82.
●
Turn the pinion by hand to distribute the grease.
