5.3.1.4 Feeder Position Recognition (80S/F)
If feeders have position fiducials it will be possible to recognize the position of these feeders.
This function also covers the flatpack magazine holder (manual tray support) if it is provided with position fidu-
cials.
If the line computer has specified the "Feeder position recognition" function, this function will appear in the
machine options.
For each station you can activate or deactivate feeder position recognition in the machine options.
NOTE:
After the station has been switched on the "Feeder position recognition" function will always be switched off.
If the cluster files include an entry for a track, the PCB camera will approach the position of the centering fidu-
cial on the feeder in question. Any centering fiducial offset determined during the measuring procedure will
then be allocated to this track and added onto the pick-up position during the pick-up procedure.
Limitations
-
Feeder position recognition cannot be used for trays which are set up in the wafflepack changer.
-
A maximum of three fiducial positions can be defined for each feeder.
-
With the 80F it is not possible to recognize feeder fiducials on the righthand side of the table (as seen
in the direction of flow).
NOTE:
This restriction does not apply to machines with "camera below gantry".
-
If a feeder is located at location 118 and if the fiducial position of the outermost division is nearer to the
travel range limit of the x axis than to the pick-up position, then the 8 mm S tape and the bulk case
feeder position cannot be recognized.
5.3.1.5 Ceramic Substrate Centering
Ceramic substrate centering is used for holding ceramic substrates securely in the x and y positions and at the
same time without exposing the material to possible damage.

5.4 Component Handling
All inputs which are connected with components supply are listed in the menu "Component feeding". When a
cluster is started for the first time, the machine assumes that all tracks have been filled with components. If,
after three pick-up errors, the track is regarded by the machine as empty, the track should be set full, once it
has been charged with components.
5.4.1 Component Barcode (Option)
The SIPLACE 80 S placement machine includes an option for checking track assignment for agreement using
a barcode reader.
For this purpose, black plates with four-position barcode strips are fitted to the safety side panels. The first
position identifies the components table (1 or 2), while the remaining three positions give the track number.
Each end of the plate includes
return barcodes
, which have the same function as the
Return key
on the key-
board.
These barcode strips are continuously numbered in steps of two (1, 3, 5, 7......), and apply to 2 tracks in each
case (barcode 1 = tracks 1 and 2).
The barcodes are read in using a pen reader connected to the keyboard.
NOTE
When reading in the barcode do not hold the barcode pen vertical, but at a slight angle to the barcode.
NOTE
If the barcode option is not installed, all inputs have to be made using the keyboard.
NOTE
Barcodes which begin with the numeral 1 or 2 and have a length of 4 characters are interpreted as track
barcodes. All other barcodes, that is, those which do not begin with a numeral, are interpreted as component
barcodes.
