3.8.2 Cleaning filters (YSM20W)

Power off the machine.
1. Detach the carriage if the machine is the
carriage type.
2. Exit the software and power off the
machine.

Detach the filter cover.
1. As shown in the figure on the right, use a
hex wrench to loosen the mounting bolt
of the filter cover. At this time, it is not
necessary to remove the bolt.
2. Pull out the filter cover forward and
upward.

Clean the filters.
1. Remove the filter mounting bolts with a
wrench (7).
2. The filter locates between 2 covers.
Remove the filter and suck both surfaces
of the filter with a vacuum cleaner or a
vacuum tool to remove dust.

CAUTION
If the moistened filters are used, the dust combines with
moisture and causes clogging. Since it is enough to
clean the filters with a vacuum cleaner, do not wash
the filters with water.

NOTE
If the dust cannot be removed or the filter has worn out,
replace the filter with a new one.

Return the filters to their original
positions.
Attach the filter sand cover in the reverse
order of removal.

3.9 Machine rear side filter
3.9.1 Cleaning the filter
The filter to be cleaned is attached on the right of the rear of the machine.

Open the cover.
Remove 2 screws mounting the cover with
Phillips screwdriver.
YSM20 (2 positions)
YSM20W (4 positions)

Detach the filter.
Filter holer includes type A and type B.
Type A
Push up the filter as shown in the figure on
the right and pull it out forward. When there
is no adjacent machine, slide the filter
horizontally and pull it out.
Type B
Push up the filter lightly and move it to left.
Pull it right and forward.

Clean the filter.
Use a vacuum cleaner or vacuum tool to
remove the dust sticking to the filter.

NOTE
If contaminants cannot be removed completely or if
the filter itself deteriorates, it is necessary to replace the
filter with a new one.

Reattach the filter.
Reattach the filter in reverse order of removal.
5
Reattach the covers.

4. 6-month maintenance
This section describes 6-month maintenance items.
4.1 Cleaning camera lighting unit
The lighting unit may become dirty due to dust and dirt. Periodic cleaning is recommendable.

CAUTION
Do not apply strong force or shock to the camera unit and lighting unit during cleaning. Optical axis adjustment might
become unreliable.

CAUTION
When a trouble related to lighting, etc. occurred, contact YAMAHA sales representatives. The disassembly and
cleaning of the machine made by the customer is beyond the coverage of the warrantee.
4.1.1 Cleaning fiducial camera
The fiducial camera is mounted on the head. The cleaning procedure for the camera's lighting unit is given
below.

Move the head unit.
1. Take off all accessories susceptible to the
magnetic fields, such as a wristwatch
and magnetic ID card.

2. Press the emergency stop button and
then open the machine safety cover.
3. If the machine is carriage type, detach
carriage to easily access to the head unit.
4. Move the head unit to a convenient
position for maintenance work.

Clean the lighting unit.
Use a blower brush to remove the dust from
the lighting unit.

Clean the reflector plate.
Use a cotton swab slightly dampened with
lens cleaner to clean the reflector plate side
as shown in the figure on the right.
TIP
The blower brush and lens cleaner are optional
purchase items.
