4 Switching the SIPLACE line on and
off
This chapter contains information about switching the SIPLACE line on and off. 4
4.1 Switching on the SIPLACE line
4.1.1 Switching on the line computer (UNIX) / starting the user interface of the line
computer program
Switch on the uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
The line computer software is loaded.
The login dialog window appears on the screen after approximately 2 minutes.
Enter plr in the „login“ box and confirm your entry by pressing the RETURN key.
Enter the password in the „Password“ box and press the RETURN key. If no password is re-
quired, then just press the RETURN key.
The desktop (main window) will appear on screen after approximately 3 minutes and the login
box is displayed on top of this.
Enter the user name defined for your user account in the "User" box, and enter the correspond-
ing password in the "Password" box.
Click on OK to confirm. The functions of the line computer program can now be executed ac-
cording to your access rights.

4.1.2 Switching on the line computer (Windows NT with SIPLACE Pro LC software)
/ Starting the SIPLACE Pro user interface
Switch on the line computer. Once the computer has started a Windows NT login window ap-
pears.
Log on to your domain by entering your user name and password.
Start SIPLACE Pro from the Windows NT Start menu:
Start --> Programs --> Siemens SIPLACE
or
Start SIPLACE Pro
by clicking the icon on your desktop.
The system then connects to SIPLACE ProServer and opens up the SIPLACE Pro user interface.4
While you are waiting for the system to connect to the SIPLACE ProServer you will see the fol-
lowing screen. 4

4.1.3 What to check before switching on the stations
CAUTION
Carry out the steps described below before switching on the stations. 4
Check to make sure that the stations are connected to both the power supply and to the com-
pressed air supply.
Carry out a visual inspection of the stations. In particular, make sure that there are no obstruc-
tions in the traveling range of the gantries.
Make sure that the z-axes of all heads are in the top end position.
Close the feeder covers and the protective covers.
Make sure that there is no diskette in the disk drive of the station computer.
