1.1 Declaration and normative guidelines:
Tools: Hand pieces or coating, holders and fixing elements, trays,
attachments, and others need to be produced out of materials with a
R
O

A
– resistance between 10
4
and 10

Ohms.
Elements of machines and systems directly in contact with conductive
parts of components or assemblies must consist of electrostatic
discharging material (R

Ohm) and have a direct connection
to the Earth Bonding Point.
1.2 Humidity
humidity is influencing the conductivity of many materials. Beginning
with an air humidity <40%rh the tendency of material surface charging is
rising. At the same time the surface conductivity is decreasing. In
consequence high electrostatic potentials can built up. Without air
condition systems with humidity control the air humidity in heated
production areas can drop below 20%rh!
High ohmic measures will be affected to smaller values when the air
humidity is rising above 60%rh.
EN 61340-5-2 recommends in 1.5 values >40%rh and
EN 61340-5-2 appendix B1.2 requests an environment during
measurement (mainly laboratoy measures) of 50
+-
3%rh, but also reviews
to practical measurement situations:
Temperature and relative humidity need to be noted:
humidity: 41 %rh
temperature: + 20 °C
