2.7 Pneumatics and Vacuum Supply
Retrofitting a placement machine with 4 C&P20 heads for vacuum pump operation is shown
below. 2

A maximum of 4 placement machines can be connected to a vacuum pump with connecting
cables. The limitations regarding the C&P20 heads must be taken into account, however. 2

A placement machine with mixed operation (vacuum and compressed air) doesn’t make sense if
you have a vacuum pump at your disposal. Therefore only the retrofitting of all portals to vacuum
pump operation is described. 2

If a Twin Head is used, the pneumatic supply, portal distributor and cable drag chain of that portal
should never be retrofitted! Otherwise the Twin Head may not function any more. 2

2.7.1 Connect Portal Distributor

Before any work is performed the machine – after being properly shut down – must be turned off
at the main switch and separated from the power system. Thereafter the compressed air supply
must be also turned off at the compressed air unit’s main valve in the machine stand. The air
supply must then be ventilated by activating the needle valve on the compressed air unit.
