Select the
Start continuous run
function and press the RETURN key and, if required, the START button.
The axis moves between the positions entered in the continuous run mode. To abort the function, press the
ESC key.
●
Press the ESC key to return to the "*Axis" menu.
●
If you wish to have the axis errors displayed on the screen, select the
Display axis error
menu item.
All axis errors that occurred are listed in the lower left portion of the screen.
NOTE
If the screen display is too cluttered owing to too many data and messages being listed, these can
be cleared from the screen by selecting the main menu option

If the Servo offset, the P-gain or the function for checking the positioning effectiveness are to be set,
or if the tacho generator is to be adjusted to the final speed, select the
Adjust dynamics
menu option and
press the RETURN key. The "Adjust dynamics" menu is opened.
Overview of the Functions:

Offset setting the offset of the servo

Speed to adjust the tacho to the final speed (not possible for z-axis)

P-gain to adjust the P component (not possible for z-axis)

Check verification of the positioning effectiveness
●
To adjust the tacho to the final speed, select the
Speed
menu item and press the RETURN key.
The "Speed" menu containing the "Run positions conti." function opens.
●
Press the RETURN key to start the continuous run for the adjustment of the tacho.
The axis moves between the minimum and maximum positions in the continuous run mode.
●
Reduce the value displayed by adjusting the tacho potentiometers on the servo card.
●
After the tacho adjustment has been completed, press the ESC key to terminate the continuous run and to
return to the "Adjust dynamics" menu.

To adjust the P component, select the
P-gain
function and press the RETURN key. The "P-gain" menu
containing the "Run positions conti." function opens.
●
Press the RETURN key to start the continuous run for the adjustment of the P component.
NOTE
Using the
↑
and
↓
cursor keys the positioning path can be increased or reduced.
●
After the adjustment has been completed, press the ESC key twice to terminate the continuous operation
and return to the "Adjust dynamics" menu.
●
To verify the positioning effectiveness following the previously performed adjustment activities, select the
Check
menu option and press the RETURN key.
The "Check" menu containing "Run postions conti." function is opened.
●
Press the RETURN key to start the continuous operation to verify the positioning effectiveness.
NOTE
Using the
↑
and
↓
cursor keys to enlarge or shrink the positioning path.
●
After the verification of the positioning effectiveness has been completed, press the ESC key four times to
terminate the continuous run and return to the "Axes" menu.
●
If you wish to cycle the "star" axis in the continuous run mode, select the
Contin. run forward
function
from the "Star axis" menu and press the RETURN key.
The "Contin. run forward" menu opens and the star axis is cycled until the continuous run is terminated by
pressing the ESC key.
●
If the x or y-axis is to approach the minimum and maximum positions of the traversing range, or if you wish
to determine the minimum and maximum limit switch positions, select the
Range x/y-axes
menu option
and press the RETURN key. The "Range x/y-axes" menu is opened.
●
Select the menu option
Move to position
and press the RETURN key.
The "Move to position" menu is opened.
●
Select the
Minimum position
or
Maximum position
from the menu and press the RETURN key.
The axis approaches the selected position.
●
Exit from the menu by pressing the ESC key.
●
In order to determine the minimum and maximum limit switch position, select the menu option
Search limit
switch
and press the RETURN key.
The "Search limit switch" menu is opened.
●
Select the
Minimum position
from the menu and press the RETURN key. The axis move to the current,
minimum position. Whenever the "Minimum position" menu item is activated, the selected axis will advance
by 200 counts. When the axis reaches the limit switch, an error will be displayed.
●
Manually move the axis away from the limit switch position.
●
Prior to approaching the next limit switch position activate the servo by selecting the menu option
Activate
servo
and press the RETURN key.

Select the
Maximum position
from the menu and press the RETURN key. The axis move to the current,
minimum position. Whenever the "Minimum position" menu item is activated, the selected axis will advance
by 200 counts. When the axis reaches the limit switch, an error will be displayed.
●
Manually move the axis away from the limit switch position.
●
Exit from the menu by pressing the ESC key.
●
Select the
Display position
menu option to view the positions and press the RETURN key.
The "Show position" menu is opened. The data of the minimum and maximum positions and the limit
switch positions are displayed and can be edited, if required.
NOTE
The minimum positions must be greater than the respective limit switch position, and the maximum posi-
tion must be smaller than the respective limit switch position.
NOTE
If the values of the minimum and maximum positions of the traversing paths are to be changed, they can
be saved to the "REAL.MA" file by way of the menu option
File manager
-->
Store MA-file
on the main
menu.

Press the ESC key four times to return to the SITEST main menu.
2.2 Functions of the Motor Control Board
The options of the "Motor contr. board" menu are used for testing the head functions. In the normal case, the
test is performed using the "Continuous run" function.

From the main menu select the
Motor contr. board
option and press the RETURN key. The "Motor contr.
board" menu is displayed on the screen.
