3 Calibration Functions
WARNING
!
!
The heads and gantries must be referenced prior to the performance of the calibration functions. During cali-
bration, the inactive gantry must be positioned in the park position above the associated component table, as
otherwise a DANGER OF CRASH exists!
On SIPLACE 80S placement stations, the procedures described in the following must be performed for both
gantries.
NOTE
This manual contains a complete description of all calibration functions. Since some steps have to be re-
peated within the framework of the calibration process, the possibility exists to combine several calibration
functions in order to avoid having to carry out these steps in every calibration operation.
The values determined can then be stored collectively.
3.1 Preparation for the Performance of the Calibration
Functions
Have both gantries of SIPLACE 80S (or the single gantry of SIPLACE 80F) perform a reference run using
the "RV-Head ref. run" or "IC-head refer. run" and "Gantry refer. run" functions.
Close all nozzles using the Close nozzles function of the "Head reference run" menu. The compressed air
supply must be turned on when so doing.
Make sure that a size 617 nozzle is attached to all segments of the revolver heads, and a size 416 (or 417)
nozzle to the IC-head of SIPLACE 80F.
Using the Move to position --> Park position function of the "Gantry positions" menu (see section 3.5)
move the gantry that is not currently required to the park position.
Place the calibration piece into the "calibration piece pocket" (recess on the top side of the conveyor).
NOTE
The calibration piece must be absolutely free of contamination and is to be placed into the "calibration
piece pocket" with the fiducial structure facing down.
Select the gantry to be calibrated (applies to SIPLACE 80S only) from the main menu under the
"Select gantry" menu item.

3.1.1 Verification and Acceptance of the Calibration Piece Position
From the main menu select the
Vision system
option and press the RETURN key.
The "Vision system" menu (see section 3.5) opens.
Select the
Move to position
menu item and press the RETURN key.
Using the key combination ALT+8 switch the monitor to the PCB camera.
Check whether the calibration piece fiducial can be seen in the search window of the PCB camera.
Using the key combination ALT+9 switch the monitor back to the normal program mode.
NOTE
If the calibration piece fiducial cannot be seen in the search window of the PCB camera, the position of the
calibration piece must be taught (see section 3.1.2).
From the main menu select the
Vision system
option and press the RETURN key.
The "Vision system" menu is displayed on the screen.
Overview of the Functions:
-
Pos.calibration tool to approach the calibration piece position and to adopt the position determined
-
Adopt current pos. function to adopt the current PCB camera position
-
Teach position menu to teach or enter the calibration piece position
-
PCB camera Menu of the PCB camera functions
-
Component camera Menu of the component camera functions for the revolver head
-
IC-camera Menu of the IC camera functions
-

3.1.2 Teaching the Calibration Piece Position
NOTE
The steps described in the following must only be performed if the fiducial of the calibration piece cannot be
found in the search window.
From the "Vision system" menu select the
Teach position
option and press the RETURN key.
The "Enter current pos." menu is now displayed on the screen.
Overview of the Functions:
-
Teach position to teach the calibration piece position using the cursor keys
↑↓ ← →
(i.e. teach onto the center of the fiducial on the calibration piece)
-
Enter position to edit the calibration piece position (fiducial center on the calibration piece)
Select the
Teach position
function and press the RETURN key.
The monitor switches to the PCB camera.
Teach the position of the calibration piece using the cursor keys
↑↓ ←
. The fiducial on the calibration
piece must be visible in the search window.
(For details on the procedure for traversing the gantry during teaching, see section 0.4.1).
Terminate the teaching operation by pressing the ESC key.
The monitor switches back to the normal program mode.
After the teaching process has been completed, the position values are displayed on the screen.
Press the ESC key three times to return to the SITEST main menu.
From the main menu select the
Gantry positions
option and press the RETURN key.
The "Gantry positions" menu is displayed on the screen (see section 3.5).
From the "Gantry positions" menu select the
Calibrate
option and press RETURN key. The "Calibrate"
menu is displayed on the screen.
Select the
Pos.calibration tool
function and press the RETURN key.
The calibration of the calibration piece position is performed.
Press the ESC key twice to return to the SITEST main menu.
