These instructions describe how to retrofit the "Modular head PCB assembly" on SIPLACE F5
HM, S-23, S-25 HM and HS-50 machines. Retrofitting on an F5 HM is not explicitly documented
with photographs, however this is done in much the same manner as for S-23/S-25 HM
machines. Procedural deviations are discussed at the appropriate point during implementation.
Only the Siemens SMD service engineer is permitted to perform the retrofitting.
The modular head PCBs have to be installed under the following conditions:
When retrofitting the optional PCB camera Multicolor.
(see the retrofitting instructions for the PCB camera Multicolor, Item no. 00192232-01, German
and English). For this reason, the retrofit kit "Modular head PCB" is also included in the PCB
camera retrofit kit for HS-50 and S-23/S-25 HM machines.
When there is fault in the existing "Conversion PCB, small axis"
The modular PCB boards must always be installed on all gantries.
The PCB unit of the "Head PCB, Assembly" (modular) consists of 4 PCBs:
Gantry head distributor HS-50 or S-23/S-25 HM or F5 HM (modular)
Processor board 80 C515C
SM board, modular
Vision board, modular
Item numbers: see Section 2.4.1. or Section 2.4.2 or Section 2.4.3.
There is a separate head PCB assembly for F5 HM machines (see Section 2.4.3). The required
ribbon cables are identical to those for the S-25 HM (S-23) however.

To retrofit the modular head boards, relatively old S-23 machines that have been upgraded to
S-25 HM, you require 3 new 10-pin connectors and 1 new 16-pin connector that have to be
fitted on the existing ribbon cables (see Fig. 2.6.4), as described in this isntructions.
This is required to produce the strain relief for the cables.
The service center stocks the parts and special tools required for this purpose in a separate
service package (detail -> see Section 2.4.4).

Refer to the note regarding the head cover (see below).
NOTE
S-25 HM, F5 HM:
It is only necessary to use the "new" head cover (with bulge or - as a preliminary solution - a cutout
for the IC camera 16 x 16) if the FC camera 16 x 16 is on or is being installed on the 6-segment
revolver head). For this reason the new head cover is included in the retrofit kit of the
FC camera 16 x 16.
S-23, S-25 HM, F5 HM:
Without FC camera 16 x 16, the old head cover can be re-used if the cables of PCB camera Mul-
ticolor have been run as described here.
HS-50:
To date, no head cover is used on HS-50. Currently, no head cover was installed while retrofitting
the modular head PCB either because such was not yet available when the documentation was
prepared (beginning of April, 2001).
Before retrofitting the modular head PCB, check with the Service Center to ascertain the latest
status.

DANGER
Only Siemens service engineers are permitted to perform the retrofitting of the "PCB camera Mul-
ticolor".
Comply with the higher ranking "Safety Instructions" in Chapter "Operational Safety" in the User
Manual and Service Manual.
The machine SIPLACE HS-50 is powered by
219/380 V +/- 5% or
230/400 V +/- 5% or
239/415 V +/- 5% or
117/204 V +/- 5% or
133/230 V +/- 5%,
50/60 Hz line voltage.
The SIPLACE machines SIPLACE S-23 / S-25 HM / F5HM are powered by
120V / 208V +/- 5% (US version) or 3 x 230V/400V +/-5%, 50/ 60 Hz line voltage.
Portions of the system are therefore conducting dangerous electricity, inside the machine even
while the master switch is turned off.
After you have properly carried out the shut-down of the Windows operating system NT:
BEFORE all work the machine must be turned OFF at the main switch and isolated from the
mains. In addition, the compressed air supply must be turned off at the main valve of the com-
pressed air unit in the machine base.
It is not necessary to undock the component changeover tables/the MTC to retrofit the modular
head PCB. If this is done nonetheless, the needle valve on the compressed air unit must be actu-
ated to bleed it (especially due to the risk of injury - posed by residual air - at the pneumatic cutter).
If the software version is under 502.xx, the placement head must be pushed out of the area of the
component and over the area of the PCB conveyor before undocking (DANGER of a placement
head CRASH).
