Background information regarding SIPLACE Setup Center Error Reporting Tool
SIPLACE Setup Center Error Reporting allows the user to transmit information regarding system errors
to Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG. The following sections explain what kind
of data is required, why it is collected, and what the data are used for.
1. Why are error data collected?
Incoming information about occurred errors are used for the identification and trouble shooting of
occurred errors in the the utilized software. The information will not be used for marketing purposes.
2. What type of data is collected?
In order to correct potential errors in the software, we require information about the settings of your
computer and the applications you used at the time the error occurred. The below section
“Information about the Type of Data Collected “ gives you an outline of the categories of the data
archived by us.
During the collection and documentation of information it is not uncommon that the report may
contain personal or confidential data. For instance, a section of the memory could contain your
name, parts of a recently edited document or material that has been published in the internet a short
time ago. Furthermore, the possibility exists that personal information may be contained in a log file,
in certain parts of a directory or in or in other product specific files that are necessary for the
identification of the error cause. If you are at all unsure about the content of the report, i.e. whether
it may contain personal or confidential information, we then advise you to better not send the report.
After submission of an error report, under certain circumstances we might ask you to fill out a
questionnaire. Answering the questionnaire is not obligatory. Should you submit an error report
without answering the questionnaire, your report will remain anonymous. If you choose to provide a
telephone number or an email address, you may be asked for additional information required for
error recovery.
3. How are reports archived?
Any error report you submit will be protected through encryption as for example the Secure Soccer
Layer Protocol. In order to protect any personal information that you may supply, we additionally
work with a range of security technologies and methods. For instance, incoming error reports are
saved on computer server with extremely restricted access.
4. Who has access to archived error reports?
Only Siemens employees, contractual partners and vendors with a business requirement are
granted access to the error reports. If an error report proves it apparent that a third-party component
is part of the problem, Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG reserves the right
to submit the error report to the involved third-party vendor, who in turn may notify his or her own
vendors and partners.
5. Information about the type of data collected
The Error Reporting Service is an integral part of all products made by Siemens Electronics
Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG and serves the purpose of documenting multiple errors. This
section exemplifies a few possible elements that could be documented as part of an error report
without asserting the claim for completeness. The type and amount of data is dependent on the
seriousness of the error and the required data contribution for error recovery.
