12/2004 Edition 2.11 Checking the functions
67
2.11.2 Check the overall functioning and the stopper position, WITH substrate
Use the following test sequence with substrate to check the substrate centering functions in the
transport sequence (lifting table up / down) and, at the same time, carry out a visual inspection to
check that the substrate and thus the stopper position are centered correctly.. 2
NOTE
These tasks should be carried out for every ceramic substrate centering mechanism, i.e. for every
processing area.
When the centering mechanism is open, the edge of the substrate pointing towards the output
must still be 0.5 mm IN FRONT of the fixed roller of the fixed stop (see Fig. 2.7 - 2).
If the substrate is lifted when the centering unit is raised, then the stopper position in the direction
of the X-axis centering unit must be adapted accordingly. 2
: Select the "Conveyor Functions" menu.
: Place the substrate on the input belt.
: During the following sequence, watch the substrate and the closing movement of the X-axis
centering mechanism.
-> The substrate must not be lifted.
For the conveyor (processing area) under consideration, select -> PCB on processing belt 1.
: The stopper position must be adapted if the substrate is lifted when the opened centering unit
moves up (see Section 2.7).
: Once the lifting table has been raised, the X-axis centering unit must be closed by the tension
spring on the flat cylinder (when depressurized, sensor signal = 0).
If an error message is output, see Section 2.12.
: Select: PCB on intermediate belt.
The X-axis centering unit must open before the lifting table is lowered (pressurized, sensor sig-
nal = 1).
: Carry out the function check described above and check the substrate/stopper position for pro-
cessing belt 2.
Select: PCB on processing belt 2.
Correct the stopper position if necessary (see Section 2.7).
: Select PCB on output belt.
: If the stopper position is OK, carry out a test placement with substrate and check that the fidu-
cials on the substrate are detected reliably.
: Select another method of illumination if necessary (see operating instructions).

2.12 Error messages, possible causes 12/2004 Edition

2.12 Error messages, possible causes
The following error message is output in the event of an error: 2
"Error in ceramic substrate centering 1" or
"Error in ceramic substrate centering 2"
The placement sequence is stopped as a result. 2
The message indicates that the sensor signal for "opened" (1) / "closed" (0) is not present.
The option 1 means that the error has occurred in processing area 1 or 4 (see Fig. 2.1 - 1). 2
The option 2 means that the error has occurred in processing area 2 or 3 (see Fig. 2.1 - 1).
Possible causes:
Fault in compressed air line / leaking connection / solenoid valve cable badly, not or incorrectly
plugged into the solenoid valve / fault in solenoid valve.
Wrong proximity switch response distance / tension spring detached from flat cylinder, proxim-
ity switch cable badly, not or incorrectly plugged into the X-axis centering unit / fault in proximity
switch.
Plug-in connectors assigned incorrectly on the conversion board (X34/X35) or plug-in connec-
tors for conveyor 1 and 2 swapped over.
2
2.13 Preventive maintenance
: Clean and grease the ball race in the X axis centering unit.
: If necessary, check that the pneumatic drive runs smoothly.
