Service engineer
The service engineer is employed by SIEMENS AG L&A and is responsible for fault clearance and
installation when the device is in special operating mode. During repair and maintenance tasks on
the equipment, the service engineer must use the transport locks and security features.
He/she is a qualified employee who has completed either a mechanical or electrical engineering
vocational training.
NOTE
Work on the device and its control functions may only be carried out by service engineers from
SIEMENS AG L&A or by personnel authorised by SIEMENS AG L&A.
Qualified person
As with the user manual for the SIPLACE placement machines, a qualified or an adequately
trained person means those persons who are familiar with the installation, the operation and the
maintenance of the Productivity Lift, including the SIPLACE placement machine and accessories
and who possess the appropriate qualifications, for example:
– the training, instruction or authorisation, according to the safety standards, to switch circuits
and unit components on or off, to enable them, earth them or to label them.
– the training or instruction according to the safety standards, in the care and use of appropriate
safety equipment and also for the use of the „Necessary safety equipment“ available on the lift
unit of the Productivity Lift.
– an operator or service technician training at SIEMENS AG L&A for the Productivity Lift and the
SIPLACE placement machines.
– first aid training.
User
The user is only allowed to operate those modes, which are necessary in the normal operating
mode to ensure an automatic operation. All other necessary activities are usually performed in co-
operation with a qualified person. The user is also allowed to e.g. remove jammed PCBs from the
device if this is possible without using a tool. If for the repair tools are necessary (e.g removal of
covers) this counts as special operating mode and can only be performed by a qualified person.

NOTE
Limitation of operator tasks:
1. The user is only allowed to take out PCBs from the operator side of the lift interior when it can
easily be reached with his arm. If the user must bend his upper body to reach the PCB, then
he/she needs to ask for advice from a qualified person.
2. If it is necessary to remove the cover of the SPLC to remove a PCB, the operator must be as-
sisted by a qualified person. Although the task can be performed without a tool, it is a significant
action within the production line.
3. The qualified person must fit transport locks and security features according to the definition
of their role.
NOTE
The user is obliged to read chapter "safety".
NOTE
The users also have to observe the chapters "user roles", "operation safety" and "training" in the
user manual of the placement machine.

2.1.4 Prescribed use
DANGER
Any use of the product in non-accordance with the regulations is prohibited (see section 2.1.5
“Non-prescribed use”).
The prescribed use of the device is defined as follows:
– The Productivity Lift consists of at least 2 lift units and 2 undefloor conveyors (in this manual
also referred to as SPLC- see 1.1.3 “Terminology for Productivity Lift”) and serves to increase
the throughput of SIPLACE automatic placement machines. Every lift unit has a placement ma-
chine of this type. Several lift units are arranged in series along with the corresponding SPLC,
this enables the parallel arrangement of placement machines although these are physically ar-
ranged in a row.
– The Productivity Lift may only be used for the purposes described in the catalogue and the
technical descriptions i.e. for the transport of bare PCBs and mounted PCBs according to the
PCB and component specifications. Any other use, or use beyond the scope of the description,
is defined as being in non-accordance with the regulations.
– The Productivity Lift may only be used in connection with external devices and components
approved by SIEMENS AG L&A. The Productivity LIft may also only be used with authorised
original spare parts. Any other use, or use beyond the scope of the description is defined as
being in non-accordance with the regulations.
– The Productivity Lift may only be operated under the conditions defined in this user manual for
installation, connection and operation.
– The Productivity Lift may only be connected to the operating voltage, when it properly inte-
grated into the SIPLACE-line as described in this user manual and in the installation manual.
The Productivity Lift may not be used outside of the SIPLACE-line.
– If no additional modules / machines are connected to the lift unit (to the input or output mod-
ules), so that the upper and / or lower transfer opening(s) is (are) freely accessible, then the
designated plate covers and the Eslon covers must be fitted (see installation instructions).
– If a conveyor or another line module is installed in front of the input module or after the output
module, so that the lift’s output opening(s) (transfer opening) are freely accessible, then the
hand protection plate supplied in the accessory package must be fitted (see installation instruc-
tions).
