2.1.5 Non-prescribed use
DANGER
By non-prescribed use of the product there is the danger of severe bodily injury, death or consid-
erable material damage. For this reason, non-prescribed use of the product is prohibited.
By non-compliance with the „prescribed use“, SIEMENS AG L&A will assume no liability in the
event of any possible damages or injuries and will also not guarantee the flawless and proper
functioning of the components.
The following are examples of non-prescribed use of the Productivity Lift and the SIPLACE
placement machine or other adjacent line modules:
the use of the lift for purposes other than those defined in „prescribed use“. Therefore also the
transporting of PCBs with or without components which are not within the specifications.
the transportation, installation and connection (electric and pneumatic), as well as the interface
connection to the SIPLACE placement machines and other systems, under circumstances
other than those defined in the installation instructions for installation, connection and opera-
tion.
electrical connection of the Productivity Lift, when the Productivity Lift or a part thereof (SPLC
or lift unit) is / are presently outside of the SIPLACE line.
The operation of the Productivity Lift without the hand protection, when a conveyor without a
cover, or without an adequate cover, is connected in such a way that it is possible to intervene
with the transfer openings of the lift.
the operation of the lift unit when the upper and lower transfer openings are accessible and
without properly fastened covers because for example there are no following or preceding con-
necting modules.
the operation of the SPLC without the cover.
the use of unauthorised spare-parts, unauthorised accessories and additional modules.
the operation and execution of any tasks on the Productivity Lift and the SIPLACE placement
machine by inadequately trained or unqualified personnel.
the performing of service and maintenance work by personnel not qualified for these tasks or
tasks which are not covered within the scope of the corresponding documentation. These in-
clude tasks in the inner area of the lift without the additional compulsory mechanical securing
device for the Z-lift axle.
starting of code protected functions of the Productivity Lift by personnel not authorised for
these tasks.

opening of the service door (pivoting frames) or the operator doors by personnel not authorised
for these tasks.
the operation of the Productivity Lifts and/or the SIPLACE placement machine when the safety
mechanisms have been removed or manipulated.
the turning of the key switch to the service position by a non-authorised person. This consti-
tutes a manipulation of the safety mechanism which is comparable to the deactivation of the
acoustic warning signal.
non-observance of the instructions in the Productivity Lift user manual or non-observance of
the instructions in the maintenance, service and installation manual of the Productivity Lift for
any continuing tasks.
non-observance of the instructions in the operating manual of the corresponding placement
machines or other machines adjacent to the lift and therefore operating the Productivity Lift
without knowledge of the interaction of the individual modules within the line.

2.1.6 Important notices for the operating safety
DANGER
Turning the key switch on the Productivity Lift to the service position bypasses the emergency stop
circuit. When the key switch is turned, all the axles can be activated with the operating panel and
will travel with full force even if the safety doors and covers are closed.
As a result very special attention must be paid here, since this is in stark contrast to the situation
when the key switch is turned on the SIPLACE placement machines. When the key switch is
turned in the SIPLACE placement machines and the safety covers are open, then either no dan-
gerous movements / functions are possible or the axles which could be dangerous can only move
very slowly.
When the operator doors are open or the service door is open, the width adjustment of the lift’s
top conveyor can be activated even if the key switch is not turned.
If the key-switch is in the service position, the width adjustment can be activated even if the upper
lift cover is open or the inlet/outlet covers of the SIPLACE placement machines are open.
To maintain the operating safety, the following points MUST be observed.
2.1.6.1 Superordinate safety regulations
DANGER
Despite all of the safety precautions provided by SIEMENS AG L&A, it is possible that improper
operation of the Productivity Lift, or improper procedures during maintenance, set up or installa-
tion, can lead from severe injuries to death (e.g through the Z-axle) and/or considerable material
damage!
¯ Observe the safety instructions in the manual.
¯ In addition it is necessary to comply to the special safety regulations specific to your country!
¯ Make no changes to the machine without prior written consent from SIEMENS AG L&A.
¯ The mains cable and the compressed air supply must be labelled so that they can be clearly
allocated to the individual modules of the assembly/ production line.
