7.6.2 Nozzle Changer (NC)
7-48: Nozzle changer for X machine
Legend
In X series machines, a maximum of twelve nozzle changers are possible for each location,
depending on the machine configuration.
The nozzle changer for the X machines has been extended to include the following functions:
Magazine ID
Height query
The nozzle changer carrier can accommodate the various magazine types for the C&P20A and CPP
heads.
The machine recognizes the configured magazines via the magazine query (microswitch).
If the wrong magazines are configured for the head, a warning will be issued to prevent a head crash.
10xx magazine: Switch 2 (center) pressed
20xx magazine: Switches 1 and 3 pressed
28xx magazine: Switches 1, 2 and 3 pressed
7.6.3 Nozzle Stations
Different nozzle stations need to be used for the X series machines with X4i. These differ only in the
mechanical construction. For X2, X3 and X4 machines, you need to use the universal nozzle station and
for the X4I the narrower version, for the respective placement head type.
(1) Nozzle changer carrier (2) Microswitch 1, 2 and 3 for magazine query
(3) Actuator for opening and closing the NC
magazine
(4) Unlocking lever for NC magazine
(5) Fixture clips for NC magazines

The C&P20A nozzle station has been extended to include nozzle types for the CPP head:
Reject station for C&P20A and CPP nozzles
Take off for 20xx nozzles
Take off for 28xx nozzles
Reject bin
Components and nozzles can be rejected into the following reject bin:
Reject channel for component size: Up to 6x6 mm
Reject bin in the nozzle station:
All nozzle types (10xx, 20xx and 28xx nozzles)
Component size: 6x6 to 27x27 mm
Reject bin together with stationary camera
Component size: Larger than 27x27 mm

7.6.4 Addressing Nozzle Changers with CAN Node Module
7-49: Nozzle changer control
The nozzle changer is controlled via a so-called CAN node. This is integrated into the machine CAN bus.
The CAN Node NC tape cutter module has the following tasks:
1. Cutter control (see Chapter Component Handling)
2. Nozzle changer control (row 1/2)
3. Valve control in the nozzle station
4. Sensor monitoring at the component and nozzle reject bin

NOTE:
Old nozzle changers, which were addressed via the one wire bus, are not able to
communicate via the CAN nodes. The new NC can be addressed via one wire and
CAN nodes.
