Vacuum values and valve plunger positions
Figure 4-5: shematic representation plunger function
• If the valve plunger is in position "nozzle open" the vacuum area is sealed by two seal
rings against the atmosphere.
• If the valve plunger is in position "nozzle closed" the vacuum area is sealed by only one
seal ring (at the rear next to the motor).
• If the vacuum value "closed" is too low these seal rings could be insufficiently greased or
damaged
Recommendations for maintenance:
• Use ONLY greased valve plungers. (Isoflex topas).
• Exchanging valve plungers means:
- Clean the body of the valve plunger! Otherwise the good plungers with new grease are
contaminated by the dirty housing.
- For greasing the valve plunger use maintenance tool item no. [03049689-01].
- Perform vacuum checks, using the closed (red) „Nozzle type 769 vacuum test DLM“
[03067029-01].
• Check regularly the suction plate "blue" (from 10/2008 "white") and replace it (with 1.5 mm
allen key).

4.2 On C&P20x heads
Damage or soiling on the holding circuit, the silicone hoses, the filter disks or the nozzles can
lead to leaks or blockages, which can result in malfunctions in the placement process or reduce
the vacuum value in the holding circuit resp. placement circuit.
4.2.1 Different head types / generations
The vacuum tests described below are generally identical across the following types /
generations.
C&P20 / C&P20a / C&P20m / C&P20p / C&P20m2
For C&P20p and C&P20m2 heads, the holding circuit achieves approx. 20mbar higher vacuum
levels.

4.2.2 Venturi- / Vacuum pump – System:
Basically all mentioned C & P20x - head types can be operated with Venturi nozzle, as well as
with vacuum pump. For each a corresponding conversion kit is offered.
For heads operated with a vacuum pump, the vacuum values for the values "open", "closed" and
"holding circuit" are expected to be around 30-70mbar lower.
C&P20 / C&P20a / C&P20m – heads are predominantly found with Venturi system,
C&P20p / C&P20m2 – heads are mostly available with a vacuum pump.
For C&P20 / C&P20a / C&P20m – heads, the vacuum for the holding circuit is measured at
position 12.
For C&P20p / C&P20m2 – heads the vacuum for the holding circuit is measured at position 11.
NOTE
Vacuum with Venturi nozzles in the holding circuit
In a venturi nozzle system, the vacuum in the holding circuit is generated separately for each
individual segment with venturi nozzles.
In case of use ot a vacuum pump, the vacuum is supplied jointly to all segments on the head
directly from the main connection.
