01005 Placement
The SIPLACE D2 is pre-
pared to place 01005 compo-
nents (0.4 mm x 0.2 mm) as
standard. To do this, you
simply have to implement the
optional 01005 package for
12-nozzle Collect&Place
heads. You can then easily
process even the tiniest com-
ponents currently available
with no drop in output.
For 01005 placement you will
need station software ver-
sion 604.01 and SIPLACE
Pro 5.0 (or a later version).
This will also improve the
recognition capability at the
associated nozzles.
The 01005 package for the
SIPLACE D-series contains
the following components:
• Sleeves for placement
with low placement forces
(3x)
• High-resolution camera,
type 38
• Special type 905 nozzles
designed for 01005 place-
ment (12 x)
There are also special
S-feeder modules available
for 01005 placement. These
optimize pick-up by ensuring
the ideal feeding conditions.
As a rule with 01005 place-
ment, a finely tuned overall
01005 process is the basic
requirement if you want to
achieve excellent results. All
the process parameters must
be optimized. The SIPLACE
team will be pleased to
advise you on how to do this.

results and ambient condi-
tions
Dpm values and pick-up
rates for 01005 placement
are highly dependent on the
measuring conditions, so it is
important to specify them
with the corresponding ambi-
ent conditions. Ask your local
SIPLACE dealer for exam-
ples and the associated con-
ditions.

100% placement process
control
The SIPLACE D2 has vari-
ous control mechanisms as
standard that guarantee
maximum placement reliabil-
ity. For example, sensors
check whether the compo-
nent was picked up or set
down correctly. The force
measurement also checks
the specified component set-
down forces and compen-
sates for differences in
height during pick-up and
any bumps on the PCB dur-
ing placement.
Digital vision inspection
The digital SIPLACE vision
system guarantees
extremely fast and reliable
component recognition,
while being very simple to
use. The system identifies
each individual component
from its shape and color.
Using different illumination
and brightness levels, every
component shape can be
easily detected. The system
also stores images of the
components, known as
"vision dumps". These show
which components were
rejected. As a result, errors
can be detected earlier when
introducing new products,
thus increasing process reli-
ability. The vision dumps
also provide good negotia-
tion tools if defective compo-
nents are supplied.
Intelligent software for
setup verification
The SIPLACE D2 set-ups
are verified on the compo-
nent roll with reference to the
barcode scanner. This helps
to avoid set-up errors.
Automatic optical
inspection
Finally, with SIPLACE OS,
the SIPLACE team is offering
an AOI (Automatic Optical
Inspection) device that
checks the products and sig-
nals errors to the placement
machine.
This network of tests consid-
erably lowers dpm rates and
increases the first pass yield.
