(OLE) - in other words, to
optimize the productivity and
thus the profitability of their
line. To ensure this, the
important factors that affect
production - equipment,
employees and processes -
must interact perfectly. The
SIPLACE Service team
helps SIPLACE customers to
do this, backed up with over
20 years' experience in the
field of SMT production. The
available services can be
combined to create solutions
for individual customer
requirements.
Assets
It is extremely important to
keep placement systems
(Assets) in optimum condi-
tion to ensure that production
runs smoothly. Professional
SIPLACE services create the
ideal conditions for this.
The available services
include the following: Instal-
lation and commissioning,
maintenance, calibration and
restoration of machine
capability conditions,
machine status certificates,
hotline support, technical
service and services associ-
ated with upgrading and
extending existing systems.
People
The motivation and technical
skills of production employ-
ees (People) are at least as
important as the condition of
the equipment, however.
SIPLACE can provide a wide
range of training courses -
from the basic principles of
operator training through to
in-depth courses for experts.
A knowledge gap analysis
will be carried out to tailor
training programs to specific
needs. All SIPLACE training
courses can be held either in
one of 14 SIPLACE Training
Centers worldwide or on site
at the production facility
(Mobile Classroom).
Processes
Production processes (Pro-
cesses) have to be repeat-
edly examined on the test
bench and matched to
changing conditions in order
to guarantee optimum pro-
ductivity in a production facil-
ity. SIPLACE experts will
analyze production pro-
cesses on site with the cus-
tomer, identify potentials,
recommend improvements
and help SIPLACE custom-
ers to implement them. If
necessary, we can also pro-
vide special solutions for
placement problems (noz-
zles and grippers). This will
provide a lasting boost to the
efficiency of a production
facility.

The SIPLACE D3 not only

100% placement process
control
The SIPLACE D3 has vari-
ous control mechanisms as
standard that guarantee
maximum placement reliabil-
ity. For example, sensors
check whether the compo-
nent was picked up or set
down correctly. The force
measurement also checks
the specified component set-
down forces and compen-
sates for differences in
height during pick-up and
any bumps on the PCB dur-
ing placement.
Digital vision inspection
The digital SIPLACE vision
system guarantees
extremely fast and reliable
component recognition,
while being very simple to
use. The system identifies
each individual component
from its shape and color.
Using different illumination
and brightness levels, every
component shape can be
easily detected. The system
also stores images of the
components, known as
"vision dumps". These show
which components were
rejected. As a result, errors
can be detected earlier when
introducing new products,
thus increasing process reli-
ability. The vision dumps
also provide good negotia-
tion tools if defective compo-
nents are supplied.
Intelligent software for set-
up verification
The SIPLACE D3 set-ups
are verified on the compo-
nent roll with reference to the
barcode scanner. This helps
to avoid set-up errors.
Automatic optical inspec-
tion
Finally, with SIPLACE OS,
the SIPLACE team is offering
an AOI (Automatic Optical
Inspection) device that
checks the products and
signals errors to the place-
ment machine.
This network of tests consid-
erably lowers dpm rates and
increases the first pass yield.
