5.35 Check of the holding-circuit vacuum
If the holding-circuit vacuum is too low, the components can slip out of position on the nozzle, thus
reducing placement accuracy and reliability.
The holding-circuit vacuum is essentially influenced by 2 factors.
- The height dependency of the vacuum values:
These can be adjusted by setting the vacuum parameters in the machine database.
- The distribution of the holding-circuit values when the valve tappets are open.
5.35.1 Requirements
The distribution of the holding-circuit vacuum is monitored automatically. If there are deviations, an
error message appears as a warning.
- The measurement results for the holding-circuit vacuum are evaluated after each placement
cycle.
- Only cycles in which no open segment has corrupted the measurement result are evaluated. All
cycles in which there are error messages are omitted from the evaluation:
- during optical centering (Vision)
- if vacuum problems occur (component not on nozzle before placement)
.
- If the evaluated vacuum is too low, the existing message "258 Holding circuit vacuum too low
(specified/actual)" is issued.
5.35.2 Restrictions
The error message "258 Holding circuit vacuum too low (specified/actual)" cannot be configured by
the operator as a fatal error.

5.36 Ball race monitoring
Ball race monitoring detects a false position of the z axis concerning the ball race during the star
rotation. Because of a false position the ball race can be damaged sooner.
At the user interface the following error message is displayed:
"3564 Ball race monitoring activated"
If the ball race monitoring is activated, the C&P head reference run is started automatically after
finishing the board. Thereby the false position of the z axis can be adjusted.
But if the ball race monitoring is activated permanently, this indicates a permanent false position of
the z axis. This can be due to the following errors:
1. Incorrect setting of the upper z-stop
2. Incorrect setting of the p-gain of the z-servo
3. To low belt voltage of the z-axis belt
4. Defect z-axis motor (transmitter unit loose)
5. Defect servo card
6. Already damaged ball race or z-axis sliding block
7. Defect z-axis guide
In this case inform your service technician.
You can deactivate the ball race monitoring and the automatic reference run by using the machine
database. For detailed information please contact the Technical Service Center Munich.
5.36.1 Restrictions
Ball race monitoring is not supported by the machines: HF and HF/3.
Ball race monitoring is activated for the following machines only for 12-seg. C&P head: HS-60, HS-
50, HS-50+, S-27 HM, S-25 HM.

5.37 Enhancement of the station software to include conveyor-
related items
The following conveyor-related items have been added to Version 505.03 of the software.
5.37.1 Requirements
- Optional stopper for the modular conveyor
An optional stopper can be installed on the S-27HM, HS-60, HF and HF/3 and used instead of
the laser light barrier to position the PCB.
- Setting conveyor acceleration/deceleration
In SITEST the speed at which the PCBs are transported can be set. In addition, the acceleration
and deceleration for the modular conveyor (S-27HM, HS-60, HF, HF/3) can also be set.
- Saving the machine parameters for the conveyor
A number of different parameters can be set for the conveyor (conveyor speed, options,
calibration for width adjustment, etc.). These are lost when the conveyor controller is replaced.
These machine parameters are now saved in SITEST and can be restored.
- Calibration of the conveyor width with editable PCB width
The conveyor width of editable PCBs can be calibrated in SITEST.
5.37.2 Restrictions – optional stopper for the modular conveyor
- Within a single conveyor on a machine with 2 placement areas, it is not possible to mix a
stopper with a laser light barrier (nor would this make sense given the error message specified
under the requirements).
- Hardware-related restrictions imposed by the optional stopper are not dealt with in this
document.
