3 Important preparations prior to installation
(Software configuration)
All computers must have been set up and prepared appropriately in advance for the complete in-
stallation of SIPLACE Pro to function correctly. 3
These preparatory measures demand knowledge about the administrative functions of Windows
and SQL Server. Please contact your system administrator for assistance if required. 3
This installation guide only describes the procedure for a installation configuration called "stand
alone installation" and "standard configuration". 3
Important:
For more detailed information which software is essential and has to be sucessfully installed
before conducting the installation of SIPLACE Pro please refer to the Support Media DVD and the
respective manual (English: Item No.:00195490-xx)
Furthermore, you require Windows administrative rights for all computers on which you are in-
stalling SIPLACE Pro.
Before installing SIPLACE Pro make sure using the features of the Support Media DVD that all
required software prerequisites are installed (e.g. OIB License Manager, Bugreporter). 3
Æ Network access rights must have been set up in order to permit data exchange with the
UNIX line computer.

Types
Various setup types are available for installation to enable you to install the system components
you want to have on the specific computer. To achieve this, various setup types have been defined
which install the required system components accordingly. 4
Note
After a new installation or reinitialization of the database, it is necessary to import the standard
shape library in SIPLACE Pro desk go to Tools-->Import-->Standard Shape Library... 4
The following setup types are at your disposal: 4
(1)Custom
(2)SIPLACE Pro Complete System
(3)SIPLACE Pro Desk
(4)SIPLACE Pro Line Control GUI
(5)SIPLACE Pro Line Control Server
(6)SIPLACE Pro Programming System
(7)Siplace Pro Server.
Refer to Section 4.2 for details about the contents and installation procedure of the individual
setup types. 4
4.1 Starting installation – first steps
These steps are identical for all setup types. The subsequent steps only differ once you have
selected the setup type you require. 4
