Greasing and Cleaning the Y Axis Guide Bearing
Fill the grease gun with Klüberplex BEM 34-132 (see also "6.1 Filling the Grease Gun" [ ➙ 77]).
Move the gantry by approx. 30 cm. This distributes the grease.
Use a cloth to remove any excess grease from on and around the grease nipple.
Follow the same procedure for the Y axis lubrication nipple (2) facing towards the inside of the ma-
chine.
CAUTION!
Do not use any chemical cleaning agents!
Do not use additional lubricants. This may reduce the ser-
vice life of the bearings. The guide rails are greased suffi-
ciently by the guide carriage.
Clean the linear guides (1) of the X-axis beneath the
gantry thoroughly over their entire length using lint-
free cloths.
Repeat this step for all linear guides.
CAUTION!
Grease all grease nipples in proper style
Grease the lubrication nipples of the Y-axes that are ac-
cessible from the outside at the gantry. These lubrication
nipples supply grease to all roller tracks in the guide car-
riage. The inside lubrication nipples are not accessible
and will not be greased.
Do not apply too little or too much grease as this may lead
to rough running of the guide carriage and damage as a
consequence.
Position the grease gun straight onto the lubrication
nipple (1).
Apply one squeeze of the grease gun. (1 squeeze
corresponds to 0.4 cm³ = 0.4 g)
The total amount of grease is 0.4 g!
NOTICE!
If the grease emerges from the grease nipple, then the
bearing could already be full.
If the lubrication no longer lets lubricant through, if it no
longer seals properly or is damaged, replace it
(DIN71412-B-M6 [03036943-xx]).

Repeat the greasing process on all linear guides (two lubrication nipples per gantry).
Clean the linear guides.

CAUTION!
Do not use any chemical cleaning agents!
Do not use additional lubricants. This may reduce the ser-
vice life of the bearings. The guide rails are greased suffi-
ciently by the guide carriage.
Clean the linear guides (1) of the Y-axis thoroughly
over their entire length using lint-free cloths.
Repeat this step for all linear guides.
CAUTION!
Always use soft cloths and minimal pressure to clean the
scales.
Dirty scales can lead to counting errors and, as a conse-
quence, to machine stoppages.
Clean the incremental scales (1) of the X axes with a
lint-free cloth soaked in ethanol.

5.5.3.7 Replacing the Loose Bearing Lubrication System X Axis
Replacing the Loose Bearing Lubrication System X Axis
Depending on the head mount, different lubrication systems can be used.
Continuous Lubrication Systems
Head Mount up to FS02:
If a continuous lubrication system is used (black cap
on the loose bearing roller), clean and grease the run-
ning surfaces weekly with a SIPLACE cleaning tis-
sue.
NOTICE
The lubrication system is optional on head mounts up to FS02.
To reduce the maintenance work required, you can replace the old lubrication adapter with a
modified version. An additional holder is fitted so that you can use the same lubrication system
as that used for the Y axis. Observe the technical information TI2011-11D04 "Retrofit solution
lubrication adapter X axis".
This lubrication adapter can be used on head mounts up to FS02.
A replacement must be done by your SIPLACE Service team only.
Unscrew the lubrication system (1).
Use a dry cloth to clean the rollers and running sur-
faces of the lubrication adapter.
Move the head mount twice over the entire length.
Now clean the rollers and running surfaces of the lu-
brication adapter again.
Unscrew the protective cap from the new lubrication
system.
CAUTION!
Take care not to distort the felt insert.
Tighten the new lubrication system by hand.
Repeat the procedure on the second gantry, if neces-
sary.
