Splice monitoring
24 Software Version Description SIPLACE Setup Center 2.3
6.4 Splice monitoring
Purpose
Setup Center can deactivate a track if splice detection is expected but was not reported by the station.
This function is only valid for X feeders.
Function
In Setup Center a threshold value can be set for maximum quantity overrun. If a splice is expected on a
track and the threshold setting has been reached, the track is deactivated at the station and highlighted
in red in Setup Center. Using the splice error correction dialog (fix detected splice under-run), the user
can check the status of the track and confirm it. Setup Center will automatically correct the packaging
unit information and reactivate the track.
6.5 Teardown after foil torn error
Purpose
Setup Center can tear down a packaging unit after a foil torn error. This prevents incorrect traceability
data from being written if an X-feeder has not been torn down properly and this packaging unit was
changed on the same X-feeder in the station.
Function
The function "Teardown after foil torn error" can be activated in Setup Center. If the X-feeder reports a
foil torn error, the track is deactivated by the station. Setup Center sends a teardown instruction to the
station and tears the packaging unit down. This separates the link between packaging unit and feeder
both at the station and in Setup Center. The track needs to undergo verification again.
6.6 XML-Import
Purpose
This feature provides an interface for changing packaging unit data for external users/systems.
Function
The use of this function is supported via the XML import interface.
For a detailed description of XML import please refer to the document XML Import Setup Center 2.2 SP1,
item no. 00195379-xx.

6.7 Device Identification
Purpose
A Device Identification or identifier (ID) is a unique artificial ID which identifies a device e.g. a machine,
changeover table or feeder. Device identifications help Setup Center to recognize, trace and re-use
packaging units used in connection with these devices.
Function
Unique Machine IDs Setup Center introduces Machine ID Barcodes (MID) which are installed onto
each X-machine ex factory. Setup Center is able to generate Machine ID Barcodes for other machine
series which can be attached to these machines. The introduction of Machine ID Barcodes also
changes user guidance at the barcode scanner. After the machine BC has been read in, the barcode
scanner displays a menu from which the user selects the desired command.
Unique Feeder ID for X-Feeders X-feeders are equipped ex factory with a Unique Feeder ID. Once
the feeders are placed on the changeover tables the ID is read out electronically. In this way the
packaging units which are assigned to feeders can be traced via Setup Center and information
between the machine and the docking station can be exchanged automatically. Unlike in the case of
S-feeders, the data relation between packaging unit and feeder during tear down does not get lost.
Setup Center also uses the Unique Feeder ID to recognize the feeder, if Setup Verification or Refill
have been initiated via the component verification button.
6.8 Packaging Unit Reorders
Purpose
Some customers operate a Kanban storage for component supply of the line. This storage site is
supplied via a central storage of the customer which uses Setup Center to calculate the demand for
packaging unit reorders.
Function
After successful setup verification, the packaging unit can be labeled for packaging unit reorders. As a
rule, this will always take place as soon as the line operator removes the last packaging unit of an article
code from the Kanban storage.
ATTENTION:
The line-ID known from Setup Center 2.0 and 2.1 is no longer supported but replaced by the
machine ID. For this reason it is necessary to remove all existing barcode labels for online setup
verification, for example ‚Table Verification’, ,Refill’, ‚Shift Change’, ‚Component Search’ etc.
and to overwrite these with new labels.

Setup Verification Using Supplier Barcode

6.9 Setup Verification Using Supplier Barcode
Purpose
A supplier barcode is used as barcode alternative for a component which is maintained in the
programming system and is clearly identified in the factory.
Function
Verification with Component Barcode
The whole scanned barcode containing the barcode fragment "component" is compared with the
supplier barcode of the programming system.
Verification with the Fragment "Component"
The fragment "Component" is extracted from the scanned barcode and only the barcode fragment
"Component" is compared with the supplier barcode of the programming system.
6.10 Shift Change Verification
Purpose
Shift change verification enables you to perform setup verification without sending the quantity to the
station.
Function
Setup Center supports the printout of a control barcode for „shift change verification“ with the Barcode
Label Wizard. This is printed for each station location. Scanning in the barcode then starts the shift
change verification process for a particular table. Alternatively, shift change verification can also be
selected via the barcode scanner menu, after the machine ID has been scanned in. The track concerned
will only be disabled if a faulty unique barcode is recognized. If a track is recognized, which has no
packaging unit set up; this can then be set or ignored.
6.11 Component Level Indicator
Purpose
The Component Level Indicator (CLI) facilitates the supervision and management of the packaging unit
size at the stations. In connection with Setup Center, the actual packaging unit size of individual
packaging units can be transferred to the component level indicator of the stations.
Function
This component level data is based on the recorded packaging units. If a packaging unit does not
specify a component level, this data is then taken from SIPLACE Pro.
Reels run out at the station and need to be refilled. Setup Center can then use the CLI to raise the
component level at the empty track.
The component level at a particular track can be adjusted to compensate for inaccurate reel
quantities or components lost during splicing.
