Setup Verification Using Supplier Barcode
26 Software Version Description SIPLACE Setup Center 2.3
6.9 Setup Verification Using Supplier Barcode
Purpose
A supplier barcode is used as barcode alternative for a component which is maintained in the
programming system and is clearly identified in the factory.
Function
Verification with Component Barcode
The whole scanned barcode containing the barcode fragment "component" is compared with the
supplier barcode of the programming system.
Verification with the Fragment "Component"
The fragment "Component" is extracted from the scanned barcode and only the barcode fragment
"Component" is compared with the supplier barcode of the programming system.
6.10 Shift Change Verification
Purpose
Shift change verification enables you to perform setup verification without sending the quantity to the
station.
Function
Setup Center supports the printout of a control barcode for „shift change verification“ with the Barcode
Label Wizard. This is printed for each station location. Scanning in the barcode then starts the shift
change verification process for a particular table. Alternatively, shift change verification can also be
selected via the barcode scanner menu, after the machine ID has been scanned in. The track concerned
will only be disabled if a faulty unique barcode is recognized. If a track is recognized, which has no
packaging unit set up; this can then be set or ignored.
6.11 Component Level Indicator
Purpose
The Component Level Indicator (CLI) facilitates the supervision and management of the packaging unit
size at the stations. In connection with Setup Center, the actual packaging unit size of individual
packaging units can be transferred to the component level indicator of the stations.
Function
This component level data is based on the recorded packaging units. If a packaging unit does not
specify a component level, this data is then taken from SIPLACE Pro.
Reels run out at the station and need to be refilled. Setup Center can then use the CLI to raise the
component level at the empty track.
The component level at a particular track can be adjusted to compensate for inaccurate reel
quantities or components lost during splicing.

Packaging Unit Editor

6.12 Packaging Unit Editor
Purpose
The Packaging Unit Editor offers the user the option of:
changing the supply quantity of a packaging unit,
changing the component quantity of the individual tape piece,
separating tape pieces from the packaging unit,
deleting tape pieces
Function
Setup Center contains a Packaging Unit Editor which is opened via the GUI. It offers an overview of the
individual spliced tape pieces of a packaging unit. The current supply quantity of the packaging unit, or
the component quantity of a tape piece, can be corrected. To separate a tape piece from the packaging
unit or delete it separately, requires teardown of the packaging unit.
6.13 Setup Center Database
Purpose
Setup Center contains the „Setup Center database“, which stores information about the recorded
components and tables.
Function
This database supports table management and stores information about the location of tables.
Component information and locations are also recorded in the database.
A central database is necessary as soon as the same packaging unit is used for two different lines or it
is moved between the pre-setup area to a line.
Every 7 days a complete backup of the database takes place while a delta data backup is performed
each day.
6.14 User Management
Purpose
Setup Center provides a simple user identification feature, in connection with the barcode scanner.
Function
If this function has been enabled, each barcode scanner user must identify himself with a personal
barcode, before the scanner can be used. The user ID barcodes can be printed out via the Setup Center
Barcode Label Wizard.
6.15 Component Search
Purpose
Together with the barcode scanner, Setup Center can show here a particular component occurs on a
setup.
Function
The system searches the setup for the required component. The scanner displays a list of the feeders
on which the component is included in the setup.

Scannen & Barcodes Dragon Barcode Scanner

6.16 Scannen & Barcodes
6.16.1 Dragon Barcode Scanner
The Setup Center supports the radio-controlled scanner system „Dragon M101“ by Datalogic. This
scanner has a four-line display and supports 1D barcodes only. The scanner has 3 buttons with which
the user can navigate through the menu - similar to using a cell phone. Communication between the
scanner and the Setup Center requires the cradle „OM-Dragon“. This is connected to the Setup Center
PC via the serial port. Each Setup Center GUI supports one cradle. Data transfer between the cradle
and the scanner is at a frequency of 433 MHz. The maximum range between the scanner and the cradle
(without obstructions) is 50 m. Up to 32 scanners can be linked to one cradle. Setup Center supports
simultaneous operation with multiple scanners.
The barcode types supported in standard configuration are:
EAN 8/EAN 13/UPC A/UPC E
Interleaved 2/5
Code 39
Code 128
Code 93
6.16.2 Unique ID Barcodes
Purpose
Setup Center supports unique ID barcodes which have been clearly assigned to a packaging unit.
Unique ID barcodes support the unambiguous storage of packaging unit data in the Setup Center
database. Once the packaging unit information is save in the database, users only need to scan the
unique ID barcode and not the individual barcode fragments. This reduces the amount of work
considerably i.e. makes for easier handling.
Function
Once a unique ID barcode has been scanned in, the other information usually scanned is then completed
by the Setup Center database (provided the packaging unit has already been fully recorded prior to this).
NOTE:
The component names used in SIPLACE Pro must be compatible with the barcode type used
by the customer. (e.g. Code 39 does not permit the characters “_“, although Code 128 does)
NOTE:
Other barcode types can be enabled by the user.
