1 Introduction
1.1 Overview
The Spectrum II S2-9XXX Series is a high-volume, in-line dispensing system that delivers high speed
and accuracy for today’s most demanding semiconductor package and Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
assembly.
This manual is intended primarily as a reference for specially trained process engineers and service
technicians. However, others unfamiliar with Asymtek products may also find this manual useful as a
general introduction to the system. This section covers the following topics:
Supported Applications

1.2 System Description
The dispensing system provides exceptional dispensing accuracy, repeatability, and is ideal for high-
volume manufacturing. The dispensing system dispenses precise small dots and consistent thin lines,
coats and underfills in hard-to-reach areas, has a small footprint that maximizes floor-space, and increases
throughput. The dispensing system performs with a wide range of fluids, processes, and substrates and
easily integrates with jets and valves from Asymtek.
The system utilizes Asymtek’s Fluidmove software, the same industry-proven software package used on
all Asymtek dispensing systems. Complete recipes written on one machine can be copied to other
Asymtek dispensing systems within the factory and around the world. Unique, automated set-up software
prompts users at the beginning of production runs, making it easy to set up and begin dispensing with less
operator interaction.
1.3 Safety First
Operation of your dispensing system involves heat, air pressure, electrical power, mechanical devices,
and the use of hazardous materials. Read this manual in its entirety before attempting any system or
component operation. It is essential for all personnel working on or around the dispensing system to fully
understand the hazards, risks, and safety precautions associated with operating the system. When properly
operated and maintained, the dispensing system is safe and reliable. See Section 2 - Safety for additional
information.
WARNING! Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for all fluids used with the dispensing
system. The SDS provides material usage instructions, disposal instructions, and
safety precautions.
