1.2.2 Definition of Terms
- Initial Installation
Prior to the start of the installation of the LC software, the computer must be in a neutral state, i.e. the
SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 operating system has been installed, but no further data exist on the hard disk
yet. This basic state exists when the unit is delivered.
When the LC software is then installed with the aid of the installation program, also the sample master
data are installed on the hard disk.
- Update
When the only difference between the new LC software and the one already installed is their revision
level, (e.g. LRU.404.03 => LRU.404.04) this is referred to as an update. Any errors that may have
occurred in the predecessor version have been eliminated in the update version, and the software has
been optimized. In the case of an update, the master data are retained.
- Upgrade
When the new software differs from the one already installed in that their version designations are
different, (e.g. LRU.404.06 => LRU.501.01) this is referred to as an upgrade. An upgrade version con-
tains new functions. In the case of an upgrade, the master data are retained and, if required, automati-
cally converted into the new data format.
1.2.3 Installation of LC Software
