4.1.6.2 Auto Coplanarity
Auto coplanarity aligns the chase with the tops of the centre section of the front and rear transport
conveyors. This ensures that when the board is presented to the stencil for the print stroke, they
are level.
This is achieved by using two lasers (1) mounted left and right of the print carriage. Four measure-
ments are taken on the stencil directly above the transport conveyors. The stencil is removed and
four measurements are taken in the same place on the tops of the transport conveyors. The meas-
urements are compared and the chase is levelled to the conveyors using motors (2 and 3) left and
right at the front of the chase. The chase is pivoted from the rear of the chase (4) which also sets
the height of the chase.

4.1.7 Under Stencil Cleaner (USC)
The USC module automatically cleans the underside of the stencil, reducing the build-up of print
medium.
The module consists of:
Under Stencil Cleaner
Solvent Tank
Vacuum Pump
Vacuum Filtration Unit
The vacuum filtration unit aids in removing excess print medium from the underside of the stencil
and fumes created by the solvent/print medium.
The USC traverses in the Y direction using the Y drive linear motor. The Y drive is also shared by
the camera carriage.

4.1.8 Transport Conveyors Module
The transport conveyor is a programmable width system, designed to transport the board through
the machine (using belts) and to secure the board during the print stroke.
The front conveyor is fixed whilst the rear conveyor is adjusted by software to the board width.
There are two types of conveyor systems:
Over the Top Clamping (OTC)
All Purpose Clamping (APC)
Both conveyor systems have three stages allowing three boards in the printer at any one time. The
input auxiliary section can hold an incoming board until the print section is available. The print sec-
tion secures the board and lifts the board up to the stencil, ready for printing. The output auxiliary
section can hold a printed board until the downline machine is available.
