2.6 Safety features
2.6.1 Protective covers
The travel range of the gantries is covered with four movable protective covers. The protective
hoods and covers serve as protective devices which prevent unauthorized access to the inside of
the machine.

CAUTION
Risk of damage!
The protective covers and other covers could be damaged if too much force is exerted.
Do not stand on or climb up the protective covers and other covers.

If the protective cover is swung upwards, the power supply to the gantry axes will be immediately
interrupted. The gantry axes stop moving. The message "Close cover" is displayed on the screen.
Close the protective covers and press the START button (item 1 in fig. 2.6 - 2), to continue
placement.

2.6.2 Hand guard on the board conveyor
The hand guard on the PCB conveyor prevents you from reaching into the operating machine, in
the event that there is no input/output conveyor extension fitted.
If there is no input/output extension fitted to the input conveyor and/or the output conveyor, make
sure that a hand guard is fitted in its place. This means that a hand guard must be fitted to the
input conveyor of the first machine in a line and to the output conveyor of the last machine in a
line. If a SIPLACE X-Series machine is operated outside the line and without the input/output ex-
tension, make sure that the hand guard is fitted to the input conveyor and the output conveyor of
this machine.
