pump for SIPLACE X-series
2.1 Description of the functions
A vacuum is needed for the C&P 20 A placement head. In the past, the entire vacuum was gen-
erated by Venturi nozzles in the C&P 20 A placement head. 2
This vacuum pump generates a vacuum more efficiently (than Venturi nozzles) and thus reduces
the power
consumption. In this way it covers the basic vacuum requirement. 2
2
The TwinHead and CPP placement head are not vacuum pump-compatible. The compressed air
supply for the gantry concerned must not be converted to vacuum operation. If this done, the re-
turn cylinder cannot move out and the Z axis thus remains in the top position. 2
2
If a gantry is converted from CP20A to TwinHead or CPP head, the original compressed air supply
must be restored for this gantry. All the modules for this gantry must be refitted.
Partial conversion of the pneumatic unit, for example, can lead to
serious faults in the placement
machine in compressed air operation because the gantry hoses are detached (additional hoses
for vacuum). 2
2
If a gantry with TwinHead or CPP is converted to CP20A with vacuum operation, the vacuum op-
eration must be retrofitted for this gantry.
If a C&P head that has been converted to vacuum oper
ation is used on a gantry with compressed
air, the silicone hoses may become detached from the segments, leading to serious damage to
the head. 2
2
2
Hoses must NOT be bent, not even during unpacking, otherwise they are no longer usable. 2

2.4 Safety instructions
WARNING
The safety instructions from the “Operationa
l safety” chapter of the user manual and servicing in-
structions take precedence over these instructions. 2
The SIPLACE placement machines are supplied with main power voltage.
Consequently parts of these systems carry dangerous voltage
s! This voltage is present at certain
modules inside the machine base, even when the machine is switched off at the main power
switch.
Incorrect handling of the placement machine or touching live parts of the machine can result in
death or
severe injury, and considerable damage to equipment.
BEFORE starting any work, shut down the operating system correctly,
then switch the machine
OFF at the main power switch and disconnect from the main power supply. In addition, the com-
pressed air supply must be switched off at the compressed air unit's main valve in the machine
ba
se and vented by actuating the needle valve on the compressed air unit.
There is DANGER for heart pacemaker wearers in the vicinity of the
linear motors, as described
in detail in the “Special safety instructions for working in the vicinity of strong magnetic fields”
section of the user manual and service manual.
Always follow the accident prevention regulations, DIN or other st
andards and special safety
rules applicable in your country.
Pay attention to the information concerning residual voltages
in the Operational Safety chapter.
Follow the ESD regulations as described in the operation
al safety section of the operating
instructions.
During the assembly, always secure the machine to prevent access by other people and to pre-
vent it being switched on again. The procedure is described in the “Lock out and tag out proce-
dure ” section of the user manual.
Working with the SITEST program further increases the risk of accident.
The SITEST program must only be used by authorized a
nd trained personnel.
